Like A Flower is the solo debut mini album by Irene. It was released on November 26, 2024 with "Like A Flower" as the album's title track.
The physical album comes in three versions: Photo Book, Case and Mirror (Smart album).
Background[]
On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that Irene would be releasing a mini album in the third quarter of the year.[1] However, in a more detailed plan, the release appeared to have been pushed back to the fourth quarter.[2]
On November 4, SM Enterainment released a teaser for Like A Flower, set for release on November 26.[3]
Composition[]
The title song "Like A Flower" is a pop dance song that mixes a mysterious charm with a bright, cheerful Afro rhythm and a soft, dreamy sound. The lyrics talks about facing life with small courage like a flower with vitality blooms beautifully by itself.[4]
"Summer Rain" is described as a pop ballad with a heavy bass and dreamy synth sounds. The lyrics contain the message that, if we're together, we'll shake like daisies trapped in the summer rain but we'll keep each other warm and get through this summer again.[5]
"Calling Me Back" is a futuristic pop R&B dance track with dreamy synths and piano lines layered on top of 808 bass and trap beats. The confident lyrics are about accepting the changes and unfamiliar emotions that come with opening your eyes to love.[5]
"Start Line" is described as a band pop song with a dynamic synth bass and rich band sound. Its lyrics talks about the importance of the courage to take one more step forward and the fact that you can always start anew on the same line with me.[5]
"Strawberry Silhouette" is a mid-tempo pop R&B dance song that creates a lively sound and dreamy atmosphere and ends with a strong percussion drop. The lyrics say to hide in me as I'll be your sweet silhouette.[6]
"Winter Wish" is described as a pop dance song with an addictive melody and exciting beat that evoke the excitement of winter. The lyrics depicts a simple yet full happiness with things becoming simpler due to the sparkle of the approaching Christmas and the warmth of the white winter.[6]
"Ka-Ching" is a pop dance song with a brisk bass rhythm and synth sounds. It described the joy of coloring each day with one's own taste and filling life with the things one want.[7]
"I Feel Pretty" is described as a pop acoustic song with a soft guitar melody similar to the quietly sparkling night sea that comfort the heart. The lyrics talks about the simple wish to find a comfortable and natural self in a complex world and for that image to become our never-ending romance.[7]
Commercial performance[]
According to Hanteo Chart, Like A Flower sold 250,063 copies on its first day of sales,[8] and 336,805 copies in its first week.[9]
Like A Flower reached #1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in 21 regions. It also topped the QQ Music's digital album sales chart in China.[8]
