LAY.T (레이티; also stylized as LAY-T) was a five-member girl group under Baeksang Entertainment. They debuted on January 10, 2012 with their only single "LAY.T 1st Single Album".
They are presumed to have disbanded in late 2014, due to inactivity.
History[]
2011: Pre-debut[]
In December 2011, it was reported that a Tisco (Trot disco) girl group named LAY.T would be making their debut in early 2012. The members were selected by their agency through a three-year audition process and had been preparing for their debut for over a year.[1]
2012: Debut with "LAY.T 1st Single Album" & activity suspension[]
On January 10, 2012, LAY.T made their debut with their first digital single "LAY.T 1st Single Album". The lineup consisted of Daeun, Nara, Woori, Areum and Sarang.
On July 28, 2012, Baeksang Entertainment announced LAY.T's activities would be temporarily suspending their activities.[2] The agency later clarified on November 4, 2012 that something came up during the preparation of LAY.T's second album so they had to put the comeback on hold to recruit new members.[3]
2013-2014: Cancelled comeback, reformation & lineup changes[]
In a recruitment notice in July 2013, Baeksang Entertainment revealed that LAY.T would return with a new lineup in August 2013.[4] However, plans fell through and the recruited members were used for their upcoming group TREN-D instead.[5]
In September 2014, LAY-T resumed their activities as three with Daeun, Areum and Nara.[6] The following month, Sarang rejoined the group and they began recording their second album.[7][8]
However, Areum later left the group while Woori rejoined.[9] With this, the agency opened an audition to find their fifth member.[10]
2015: Disbandment[]
By August 2015, plans for the group appeared to have been cancelled altogether as the agency announced that Daeun would become active as a composer and solo singer on August 8, 2015.[11]
