By the end of March, NH Media announced that the group would be returning with their fourth single album "Fresh Adventure" on April 6, 2016. The album was then released on April 6 with "Journey to Atlantis" as the title track to promote the album.

The group then released their first mini album Love Sign on August 23, 2016. It was intended to be released as their fifth single album before it was upgraded to a mini album.

The group made their Japanese debut under Nippon Colombia with the single "Hwi Hwi" on November 7, 2018.

On August 11, it was speculated by news outlets that LABOUM would be disbanding at the end of the month due to the recent acquisition of Interpark by Yanolja, as they had no intentions to continue managing the group.[9] Later on the same day, a representative from Interpark Music Plus clarified that the group's disbandment has not been confirmed.[10] On September 23, Joynews24 reported that LABOUM would go on an indefinite hiatus to focus on individual activities.[11] Later that same day, a source close to the group told XSports News that while it was true that LABOUM had signed a contract termination with Interpark Music Plus, the group has not disbanded as the members are still interested in conducting group activities alongside their individual activities. It was also revealed that they would be able to continue under the "LABOUM" name after leaving their agency.[12]

On November 26, Yujeong, who initially left the group in September 2021, participated in Soyeon's solo fanmeeting, which unofficially confirms that she has rejoined LABOUM. She also revealed that the group will be having a mini concert held on February 23, 2023.
