Kyoung Yoon (경윤) is a South Korean singer and lyricist under Dongyo Entertainment. He is a former member of the boy group DKZ.
Career[]
2019–2023: DKZ[]
He made his debut as a member of DKZ with the release of their first single album "DONGKIZ On The Block" on April 24, 2019.
On August 7, 2023, Dongyo Entertainment announced that Kyoung Yoon, who had been on hiatus from activities since April 2023, had officially withdrawn and left the group after a 4 month hiatus. He would be enlisting in the military later in the year.[1]
Personal life[]
Family ties with JMS cult[]
Following the release of Netflix's In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal docuseries, it was reported that the cafe own by Kyoung Yoon's parents was part of a list of addresses allegedly affiliated with the JMS cult. On March 7, 2023, Dongyo Entertainment stated that the family did not know the church they attented was a cult and that they immediately ceased their business and left the church.[2]
In an interview with Dispatch released on March 13, Kyoung Yoon revealed that he was born into this religion as his mother was already a member of the church before he was born. He added that he did not have the right to choose a religion, was brainwashed and ignorant of the truth behind the cult. He confirmed that he left the organization.[3]
Health condition[]
On April 20, 2023, it was announced that Kyoung Yoon would temporarily halt activities from DKZ after a diagnosis of anxiety and sociophobia.[4]
Military service[]
On September 11, 2023, Dongyo Entertainment announced that Kyoung Yoon has enlisted in the military as an active duty soldier.[5] He will be discharged on March 10, 2025.[citation needed]
