Kpop Wiki

The Layout Guide intends to standardize how an article should look on Kpop Wiki. The information below outlines the relevant headings and sections that should be included when it comes to creating or editing an article.

People

Infobox

  • The infobox, Template:Infobox person, must be placed at the beginning of the article, before the lead.
    • For the "birth_date" parameter, use Template:Birth date and age if full date known or Template:Birth year and age if only year known. Please note that the birth year and month categories are automatically added when this template is used so you don't have to include them in the bottom.
    • For the "height" and "weight" parameter, please use metric units (eg. cm, kg). You can also optional use Template:Cvt to convert to imperial.
    • For the "Website" and "SNS" parameters, use the templates here. SNS templates must be placed in alphabetical order by name.
    • For the "Related Wiki" parameter, please add Template:FL in the Related Wikis page, not directly in article.
    • Note: For the fandom and colors, please keep ones officially mention. Do not add a group's fandom name into a member's infobox unless they have their own.
    • Use Template:Color box for official colors.

Lead section

  • A brief summary on the artist. Keep it to a few paragraphs.

Career

  • The artist's background. Can be divided into subsections like "Early life", "Pre-debut", and by years of activities.

Discography

  • Note: Albums titles are italicized. (eg. ABC), singles & songs titles are quoted. (eg. "ABC")
  • For more than one language, please place the appropriate headings (columns are preferred if there are many releases)
  • Place repackage releases in a sub-bullet under the corresponding release unless stated below.
  • Order of importance:
    • Studio albums
    • Best albums
    • Cover albums
    • EPs
    • Live albums
    • Mini albums
    • Mixtapes
    • OST albums
    • Remake albums
    • Remix albums
    • Repackage albums (for special instances eg. A.C.E Adventures in Wonderland)

Producing & writing credits (or Production discography for producers only) (if applicable)

  • Any songwriting, composing, producing works should be placed here and should be sorted by year in descending order, preferably in a table.
    • Examples: Joohoney, Wonwoo
    • Update: Must be now sourced. KOMCA is the preferred source, however you can use Korean digital music platforms (eg. Melon, Naver etc.), physical CD credits, and any official/reliable sources (like a producer's website or SNS stating the credit).
      • NOTE: Sites like Genius.com should not be used as they rely on user contributions and may not be reliable.

Concerts (if applicable)

  • Any solo concerts, concert tours
  • Ordering:

Gallery

  • More info in the image policy.
  • Collection of officially-released photos like teaser images, concept photos. Fan-taken photos and screenshots not allowed. Limit of 25 photos. Anything over would have to be moved into a separate article (eg. Lisa/Gallery).

References

Official links

  • Links to the artist's official website, fan cafe, SNS accounts (eg. Twitter, Instagram). Must be placed in alphabetical order (with exception of website which is always at the top).
  • No fan pages or fan blogs allowed.

Navboxes (optional)

  • Helps navigates between pages of related topics.
  • Eg. Template:Taeyeon
  • Must be placed at the bottom after "Official links" and before "Categories"
  • If you need help making one, please contact the Wiki's admin.

Stubs

  • If an article is incomplete and/or can be expanded, please add the Template:Stub at the end of the article.
  • The criteria on removing the stub template can be found here.

Categories

  • All related categories must be placed at the bottom of the article.
  • They must be labeled to the best of what type of artist they are.
    • The types can be found under Artist categories
    • For the difference between a lyricist, songwriter, and composer, please refer to this diagram. There may be exceptions if for example an artist refers to themselves as both a songwriter and composer. If so, please reference!

Albums, singles, songs, OSTs

General information

  • For OST albums, please only create the OST's article if it contains a K-pop artist. Any articles that do not have K-pop artists (eg. an OST that only has hip-hop and indie artists) will be removed and will have to be re-created under either of our sister wikis, K-Hiphop or K-Indie.
    • If you aren't sure if the artist belongs under K-pop Wiki, please message any of the Wiki's administrators for help.

Infobox

  • The infobox (Infobox album, Infobox single or Infobox song) must be placed at the beginning of the article, before the lead.
    • For the "released" parameter, if there are different release dates for either different formats, regions or parts, please separate and label them accordingly
    • For the "format" parameter, the list of approved formats are as followed:
      • CD
      • Cassette
      • Kihno (also known as KiT)
      • Vinyl (also known as LP)
      • Download
      • QR, NFC, Smart card albums including Nemo Card, PLVE, Platform, PocaAlbum, and SMini
      • Streaming
    • For the "services" (music streaming services) parameter, please use the available templates located here. Must be placed in alphabetical order by service's name and follow the template's usage as instructed.

Lead section

  • A brief summary on the release. Keep it to a few paragraphs.

Background

  • Background information on the release including announcements of the date of the comeback, production process etc.

Composition

  • Detailed information on its composition including who created the song, genres etc..

Release and promotions

  • Information on the album/single release and promotions like when it was released and it was promoted.

Reception

  • Information on the album/single's reception like written reviews by critics and how it charted on the music charts.
    • This section can be divided into:
      • Critical reception
      • Commercial performance

Track list

  • The list of songs from the album/single. Use the number sign (#) to create the list.

Merchandise (or Goods/Goodies) (if applicable)

  • Merchandise and/or goods associated with the release. Can include pop-up store events, limited run goods, photobooks. (eg. Kill This Love)

Awards and nominations (if applicable)

  • Should be placed in a table.
  • Can include any awards related to the release
    • For singles/songs, can include music show wins
    • Must be properly referenced

Lyrics (for individual songs & single articles only)

  • Must include the Korean, Romanization, and Translation lyrics and also color-coded for each member.
  • Please see the examples below on how they should work and look. If you require help, please contact an admin or moderator:

Trivia (optional)

  • Please limit to a few important and interesting points that cannot be covered in the other sections. Points must be sourced!

  • Relevant teaser, concept images for the specific release
