Kim Seri (김세리), also known as AleXa (알렉사) and Alex Christine (알렉스 크리스틴), is an American dancer and singer-songwriter.

She made her solo debut on October 21, 2019 with the digital single "Bomb".

Career[]

2016–2017: Rising Legends Season 1 and 2[]

In 2016, she participated in audition competition program Rising Legends, presented by Soompi and JYP Entertainment. She won under the dancers category and received a one-on-one audition with JYPE.

In 2017, she participated in Rising Legends: Season 2, eventually becoming the event's grand prize winner which included a five-day trip to Seoul and a chance to audition for Cube Entertainment.[2] A Viki original series titled Legendary: Making of a K-Pop Star which follows her journey to South Korea for the K-pop experience premiered on January 11, 2018.[3]

2018–2019: Produce 48 and solo debut[]

In May 2018, she participated in Produce 48, representing ZB Label (a subsidiary under Zanybros).[4] She was eliminated in episode 5 and finished in 82nd place.

On October 1, 2019, Alex released a teaser video on her Instagram for her upcoming solo debut.[5] She officially made her solo debut on October 21, 2019 with the digital single album "Bomb" under the stage name AleXa.

2020: Fandom name, Do Or Die, "Villain", "Rule The World", Decoherence[]

She announced that her fandom would be called A.I Trooper on January 16, 2020.[1]

On February 21, ZB Label revealed that Alexa was currently preparing for her first comeback in March.[6] On February 25, she released the music video for the pre-release track "A.I. Trooper". The single "Do Or Die" was released on March 6.[7]

On March 3, it was reported that AleXa had signed with talent agency ICM Partners for her U.S activities.[8]

Her first EP Do Or Die was released on April 1 and includes her previously released singles and the new track "Kitty Run". The EP was distributed worldwide through Avex Entertainment Inc.[9]

On September 4, AleXa and German producer TheFatRat released the collaboration single "Rule The World".

On October 9, a teaser video was released, revealing her comeback logo.[10] The following day, her comeback date was confirmed to be on October 21[11] with the mini album Decoherence, which includes her pre-release single "Villain".

2021: "Never Let You Go", "Is It On", and "Reviver"[]

On January 14, 2021, AleXa released the ballad single "Never Let You Go."[12]

On May 21, she and Kuwaiti-Saudi singer Bader AlShuaibi released the collaboration single "Is It On" as part of Spotify's RADAR Korea and RADAR MENA programmes.[13]

On July 1, she released her first single album, "Reviver", with "Xtra" serving as the single's title track.

2022: "Tattoo" and American Song Contest, U.S. tour, Girls Gone Vogue[]

On January 6, 2022, she released the special single "Tattoo."

On March 3, it was announced that AleXa would be participating on NBC's music reality competition show American Song Contest, representing her home state of Oklahoma with the song "Wonderland".[14][15] During the show, she passed the qualifying and semi-finals rounds. On the finale episode, she was crowned as the winner of the contest.[16]

On August 3, AleXa announced her 2022 U.S. tour, which will take her to eight different cities in October.[17]

On October 20, ZB Label announced that AleXa will be coming back on November 11.[18] On October 22, AleXa posted the first concept trailer for her first mini album, Girls Gone Vogue.[19]

2023: "Juliet"[]

On June 1, 2023, ZB Label announced that AleXa will be releasing the digital single "Juliet" on June 9.[20]

2024: Tour, "Sick", "I'm Okay", "Distraction", "Joy of Missing Out", "Enemy", "Under The Armor"[]

On December 20, 2024, AleXa announced that the digital single "Enemy" will be released on November 22, 2024.[21] Following its release and according to her, the song was recorded during Back in Vogue era in 2022, and was released without her knowing. Additionally, she stated that there would be no comeback in the near future.[22]

On December 12, AleXa announced the digital single "Under The Armor", to be released the next day.[23] This release was also reported to have been recorded four years prior to its release.[24]

In a late December live, she hinted at her contract with ZB Label ending and not being renewed.[25]

2025: Departure from ZB Label and name change, "Vital Check"[]

On February 20, 2025, AleXa revealed through a live that she is preparing for a re-debut in April.[26]

On March 5, she announced that she has left ZB Label and opened her new SNS accounts under her Korean name, Kim Seri.[27]

On March 6, it had been noticed by fans that ZB Label plans to release her first full-length album titled Sugarcoat on March 7. It would be her last release with the label and as AleXa.[28]

By March 7, she officially lost access to her old Instagram and YouTube accounts.[29] The next day, she revealed that she could use her old stage name but would prefer not to, and will most likely use her Korean name instead.[30]

On March 14, she revealed that she finish recording a song and music video for an upcoming project.[31] On March 26, she teased a collaboration with kik5o, scheduled to be released on April 10.[32] On April 1, she announced she would keep the stage name AleXa for her upcoming project.[33] On April 5, she announced the collaboration single "Vital Check".[34]

Father's passing[]

On October 25, 2024, AleXa shared a handwritten letter on her Instagram account announcing that her father had passed away.[36]

  • Her mother is of Korean descent and her father of American-Russian descent.[35]
  • She was a cheerleader in high school.[40]
  • She is friends with LE SSERAFIM's Huh Yunjin (both have been friends since before Produce 48).[41][42]
  • She is currently the shortest female idol in the K-pop industry.[43]
  • One of the main reasons she became a K-pop idol was to find her mother's biological parents (AleXa's mother was sent to an orphanage in Korea and given up for adoption when she was very young). She hopes that becoming a famous idol will help her find her mother's lost biological family.[44]
