Kim Chae Won (김채원; or simply Chaewon) is a South Korean singer under Janggoon Entertainment. She is a former member of the girl group APRIL.

She is best known for participating in the survival shows KARA Project, Sing Again 3, and Girls On Fire.

She made her solo debut on August 29, 2022 with the digital single "Tomorrow".

Career[]

2014: KARA Project[]

On May 18, 2014, Chae Won was introduced as a contestant in the DSP Media's reality survival show KARA Project.[1] On July 1, 2014, she ranked 4th place and was unable to debut as KARA's new member.[2]

2015: Debut with APRIL[]

She debuted as a member of APRIL on August 24, 2015 with the group's first mini album Dreaming.

2022: Disbandment and departure from DSP Media, solo debut[]

On January 28, DSP Media announced the group had officially disbanded.[3]

On February 14, DSP Media announced that they have ended their exclusive contract with Chaewon.[4]

On July 19, she signed an exclusive contract with Janggoon Entertainment.[5]

On August 29, she made her solo debut with the digital single "Tomorrow".[6]

2023: Sing Again 3[]

On October 10, 2023, she was identified as SingAgain3 Singer No.72 on the JTBC survival show Sing Again 3.[7]

On November 27, her performance in the first round was released on YouTube. She performed "Legend of Tears" by HiNi and was placed on hold after receiving a total of four out of eight Again button presses from the judges Baek Ji Young, Yim Jae Beom, Code Kunst, and Lee Hae Ri. At the end of the round, she was eliminated after she did not receive one of the additional passes to the second round.[8][9]

2024: Girls On Fire[]

On March 18, 2024, she was revealed as one of the 50 contestants competing on the JTBC survival show Girls On Fire.[10]

During the show, she performed "To My Youth" by BOL4 in the first episode, and "After Like" by IVE in the fifth episode with Yang Drea Irae and Kim Kyuri. She finished in the top 32 after being eliminated in the second round during the fifth episode on May 14.[11][12][13]

2025: "Dear My Wave"[]

On February 15, 2025, she released the digital single "Dear My Wave".
