Kawaguchi Yurina (Korean: 카와구치 유리나; Chinese: 川口 百合凪; Japanese: 川口 ゆりな) is a Japanese singer and tarento under Oscar Promotion. She is best recognized as being a former member of the J-pop girl group X21. She made her solo debut on March 21, 2022 with the digital single "Look At Me".
She is known for participating on the South Korean reality survival show, Girls Planet 999.
Career[]
2016–2020: X21, tarento beginnings[]
In April 2016, Yurina was added as a second generation member of the J-pop girl group X21 under avex trax. She made her official debut with the girl group on July 27, 2016 with the release of their eight digital single "Natsu dayo!!". She remained a member until their disbandment on November 30, 2018.
Since her departure from X21, Yurina has primarily focused on working as a tarento, and has had acting roles in two Japanese dramas and was also cast in several television shows as a panel member and MC.[1]
2021: Girls Planet 999[]
On July 7, 2021, Yurina was confirmed as a contestant on Mnet's newest reality show, Girls Planet 999, along with the other participating trainees, through the prologue trailer.[2] Her official profile was released on July 19.[3][4] On episode 12, which was aired on October 22, it was revealed that Yurina was unfortunately eliminated, with her final rank being J03 and 14th overall, and ultimately was unable to debut with Kep1er.
2022: Solo debut[]
On February 14, it was announced that Yurina would make her solo debut on March 21 with the single "Look At Me".[5]
On May 15, it was announced that Yurina will release her second single "Cherish" on June 20.[6]
