Kang Hyun (강현) is a South Korean musician, producer and songwriter under RBW. He is a member and the guitarist of the boy band ONEWE.
Career[]
2015-2016: M.A.S 0094 formation and debut[]
Kang Hyun is one of three founding members, recruiting two additional members to self-form the five-piece band M.A.S 0094, now known as ONEWE.
Kang Hyun, along with members Harin and Giuk, formed the band as the three youngest students of their music academy Modern K, when Kang Hyun was in his second year of middle school (around 2012). They then recruited Giuk's neighbour Dong Myeong. Lastly, the band met and recruited their final member Yong Hoon with a cup of coffee at a singer-songwriter contest in May 2015.[1]
Now complete as five members, the band chose the name M.A.S 0094 to mean "Make A Sound" plus the birth years of their youngest (2000) and eldest (1994) members. Kang Hyun was the original leader of M.A.S 0094.
From May of 2015, M.A.S 0094 began busking together on the streets of Hongdae.
He released his first single with M.A.S 0094 on August 13, 2015, "Butterfly, Find a Flower", and made his official debut with the band on August 2, 2016 on SBS MTV's The Show.
2017-2018: MAS and The Unit[]
On April 1, 2017, Kang Hyun, with M.A.S 0094, signed an exclusive artist contract with RBW and the bands' name was shortened to MAS. Kang Hyun then passed the role of leader onto their eldest member Yong Hoon.
In October of the same year, Kang Hyun auditioned alongside MAS for the survival show The Unit. He was eliminated in the 7th episode and ranked 61st place.
In June of 2018, his band's name was changed again from MAS to ONEWE.
2019: Re-debut as ONEWE[]
He made his re-debut with ONEWE under RBW on May 13, 2015, with the digital single album "1/4".
