KISS OF LIFE (Korean: 키스 오브 라이프; Japanese: キスオブライフ), also shortened as KIOF, is a four-member girl group under S2 Entertainment. They debuted on July 5, 2023 with the mini album KISS OF LIFE.
The name signifies their ambition to "breathe a new life into the music industry with their music and charm." Reflecting on their name, the group's concepts revolve around the different stages of life, particularly adolescence and young adulthood.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
In December 2022, Natty, who has previously signed with S2 Entertainment, was featured in a British documentary about K-pop trainees along with Julie, Belle and two unknown trainees, who were speculated to be the members of the company's upcoming new girl group.[2]
On December 27, 2022, it was announced that S2 Entertainment was preparing to launch a new girl group in 2023.[3] Later in February 2023, it was discovered that the agency has applied to trademark 'KISS OF LIFE', and that they had opened SNS accounts with the same name for the girl group.[4]
2023: Debut with KISS OF LIFE, Born To Be XX[]
On May 12, at 00:00 KST, S2 Entertainment opened up SNS accounts and dropped the first teaser for the group. In the teaser, it was revealed that the group would debut in July of the same year.[5] On May 15, Natty was revealed as their first member,[6] followed by Belle on May 16,[7] Julie on May 17,[8] and Haneul on May 18.[9]
On June 12, a teaser was released, revealing that the group will debut on July 5 with the mini album KISS OF LIFE.[10]
On September 28, the group announced their plans to make their first-ever comeback with their second mini album Born to be XX, set to be released on November 8.[11]
2024: Fanmeetings, "Midas Touch", "Sticky", first win, "Superpower", upcoming release[]
On January 3, 2024, it was announced that KISS OF LIFE will hold their first-ever Japanese fanmeeting, titled 'Hello Kissy', on February, 20.[12] On February 2, an additional fanmeeting, titled 'Dear Kissy', was announced. It will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on March 17.[13]
On March 11, a series of logo motions were released, hinting at their upcoming comeback.[14] On March 15, the group released a teaser for their first single album "Midas Touch", set for release on April 3.[15]
On May 16, a media outlet reported that KISS OF LIFE is gearing up to release new music in July. S2 Entertainment confirmed the reports hours later.[16] On June 21, the group announced that they will be releasing the digital single "Sticky" on July 1.[17]
On July 9, KISS OF LIFE won their first music show award The Show with their song "Sticky".[18]
On July 16, 2024, Valorant announced that KISS OF LIFE and Mark will be releasing "Superpower" on July 24 as the anthem for the 2024 Valorant Champions.[19]
On September 3, it was reported that KISS OF LIFE will be coming back in October.[20]
