Justin (Korean: 저스틴; Japanese: ジャスティン), formerly known as JJ, is a Japanese-American trainee under SM Entertainment. He is a member of the SMROOKIES trainee team SMTR25. He is also a former member of the pre-debut boy group Trainee A and the Japanese boy group AMEZARI -RED STAR-.
Career[]
2015–2020: AMEZARI -RED STARS-[]
On August 25, 2015, JJ joined the Japanese idol team AMEZARI -RED STARS- (formerly known as American Crayfish). The group was composed of Osaka trainee students from EBiDAN, under STARDUST PROMOTION and they released 3 albums and a single.
He announced his graduation from the group at the end of 2020 and left the agency on December 31.[citation needed]
2021–2023: Trainee A, Pledis Entertainment[]
On August 22, 2021, the "About" section for pre-debut group Trainee A's YouTube channel was updated, revealing JJ as a hidden member.
The group's debut was ultimately cancelled and Trainee A's channels closed at the end of 2022. The group was speculated to be under BigHit Music but this was never officially confirmed.
At the end of 2022, JJ transferred to Pledis Entertainment.
2023–present: SMTR25[]
On February 22, 2024, JJ was spotted alongside other SM Entertainment trainees attending SMTOWN Live 2024: SMCU Palace@Tokyo.[1] It was speculated he became a trainee at SM Entertainment in 2023.
On January 11, 2025, JJ performed as part of SMROOKIES's trainee team SMTR25 during the SMTOWN Live 2025 Tour, which confirmed his trainee status with the agency.[2]
On April 4, he was officially introduced as part of SMTR25, under the name Justin.[3]
