Jihyo (Korean: 지효; Japanese: ジヒョ) is a South Korean singer-songwriter under JYP Entertainment. She is the leader and main vocalist of the girl group TWICE.
She made her solo debut on August 18, 2023 with the mini album Zone.
Career
2015: SIXTEEN, debut with TWICE
On May 5, 2015, she became a contestant on JYP's newest survival show, SIXTEEN. She finished the survival in 8th place, hence becoming a member of the girl group TWICE.[1] The group officially debuted on October 20, 2015 with their first mini album The Story Begins.
2022: "Stardust Love Song", "I Fly", "A Strange Day"
Jihyo released three soundtrack songs for three different South Korean dramas, "Stardust Love Song" for Twenty-Five Twenty-One, "I Fly" for Today's Webtoon, and "A Strange Day" for Summer Strike. They were released respectively on March 6, July 29, and November 14.
2023: Solo debut
On June 5, 2023, TWICE's social media accounts posted teasers announcing Jihyo's solo debut, which is scheduled for sometime in August 2023.[2] On June 26, it was announced that Jihyo will be debuting on August 18 with her first mini album, Zone.[3]
On September 8, it was announced that Jihyo will be releasing an English version of "Killin' Me Good" on September 15.[4]
Personal life
Relationship
On August 5, 2019, local news source Dispatch reported that she and soloist Kang Daniel were dating. Later that day, the reports were confirmed by both agencies. It was also revealed the two were introduced to each other through 2AM's Seulong.[5][6]
On November 9, 2020, JYP Entertainment confirmed that the couple had broken up due to busy schedules.[7][8]
On March 25, 2024, it was reported that Jihyo and former skeleton athlete Yun Sung-bin have been dating for a year after metting through an acquaintance. In response, both of their agencies stated that it is difficult to confirm as it is their private life.[9]

- Although Jihyo is left-handed, she writes and draws with her right hand. She is ambidextrous.[citation needed]
- Jihyo likes taking public transport because her home is close to Nayeon's and they often took the bus to work when they were trainees.[citation needed]
- Jihyo and Tzuyu are really close, so close even that they would shower together when Tzuyu came over.[20]

- She was a part of the all-female non-professional soccer club called 'FC Rumor W', along with other idols, such as her fellow member Mina, Sejeong and Nayoung of gugudan, Jeonghwa of EXID, Hayoung of Apink and U.Ji (former of BESTie), and also non-celebrities.[24] On August 11, 2020, it was announced by Hayoung that she and other idols, including Jihyo, decided to leave the team after the controversy surrounding it became too big.[25]

- Her favorite Japanese dish is hitsumabushi (a typical dish from Nagoya, capital of Aichi Prefecture, which consists of sliced grilled eel, steamed rice and accompanied by assorted condiments and garnishes).[28]
- She is a Marvel loyalist (i.e. she is a huge fan of Marvel and especially the Marvel movies): she is a huge fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU) and her favorite character from the Marvel movies is Thor (played by popular Australian actor Chris Hemsworth). More recently, she participated in a photo shoot, in which she was holding the version of Mjölnir used by Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) in Thor: Love and Thunder.[29][30]
