Jessica (제시카; also known by her full name Jessica Jung) is a Korean-American singer, actress, businesswoman and writer currently under Coridel Entertainment and United Talent Agency. She is a former member of the girl group Girls' Generation.

She made her solo debut on May 17, 2016 with the mini album With Love, J.

Early life[]

Jessica was born on April 18, 1989 in San Francisco, California, United States. Her younger sister is f(x) member Krystal.

While on a family trip to South Korea in 2000, Jessica and her sister were scouted by SM Entertainment. The agency offered both girls singing and dancing lessons in order to professionally train for a singing career. However, her parents only allowed Jessica to join the agency at first, as Krystal was too young at the time.[2] Jessica trained at the agency for 7 years before making her idol debut in 2007.

Career[]

2007–2014: Girls' Generation, Blanc & Eclare[]

Jessica debuted as a member of Girls' Generation on August 5, 2007 with the group's first single "Into the New World".

In August 2014, she launched her own fashion line, Blanc, which was later renamed to Blanc & Eclare.[3]

On September 30, 2014, SM Entertainment announced that Jessica had been dismissed from Girls' Generation due to scheduling conflicts.[4]

2015–2016: New agency, solo career[]

On August 6, 2015, it was announced that Jessica would be leaving SM Entertainment following the termination of her contract.[5]

In 2016, she signed on with Coridel Entertainment.[6]

She made her solo debut on May 17, 2016 with her first mini album With Love, J.

2023: Beep Beep[]

On November 13, 2023, a track list was posted which revealed that Jessica would make her first comeback in 7 years with her fourth mini album, Beep Beep, on November 22.[7]
