Jennie (제니) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper, model, designer and actress under ODD ATELIER and Columbia Records. She is a member of the girl group BLACKPINK.
She made her solo debut on November 12, 2018 with the single album "Solo".
Career[]
Pre-debut[]
On April 12, 2012, a photo of Jennie was uploaded onto YG Entertainment's official blog with the caption "Who's that girl?".[3] In August of the same year, YG Entertainment released a YouTube video of Jennie covering "Strange Clouds" by B.o.B featuring Lil Wayne. On September 1, 2012, she made an appearance on G-Dragon's music video for "That XX". On January 21, 2013, she was confirmed as a member of YG Entertainment's newest girl group, alongside Jisoo.[4] In March that year, she was featured on the song "Special" by Lee Hi. Jennie continued to feature on tracks of labelmates that year. She was featured on Seungri's "GG Be" in August and G-Dragon's "Black" in September.
2016: Debut with BLACKPINK[]
She was revealed as the first member of BLACKPINK on June 1, 2016.[5] The group made their debut on August 8, 2016 with their first digital single album "Square One".
2018: Solo debut[]
Jennie made her solo debut on November 12, 2018 with her first single album "Solo".
2022: Acting debut[]
On July 17, a trailer for The Idol was uploaded by HBO in which Jennie was spotted. Two days later, HBO confirmed that Jennie will be playing a part in the show on their Twitter account.[6]
2023: "You & Me", new agency[]
On October 4, 2023, it was announced that Jennie would release her special English single "You & Me" on October 6.[7]
On December 24, Jennie announced that she had established her own one-woman agency, ODD ATELIER, to manage her solo activities.[8]
2024: "Slow Motion", "Spot!", “Mantra”[]
Jennie teased a collaboration with American rapper Matt Champion on March 3, 2024 through Instagram. On March 8, the song, titled "Slow Motion", was released.[9]
On March 31, News1 reported that Jennie is preparing to release an album in June. In response, ODD ATELIER stated that nothing has been confirmed.[10]
On April 18, KOZ Entertainment confirmed that Zico would be making his comeback on the 26th, with the digital single "Spot!" which features Jennie.[11]
On September 8, it was announced that she had signed with Columbia Records to manage her activities in the United States, as well as release a new single in October.[12] On September 25, Jennie uploaded a teaser video for her upcoming release in which she hung up a poster with the words “Calling All Pretty Girls.”[13] On September 30, a teaser video revealed that she would be releasing a new digital single titled "Mantra" on October 11.[14]

On December 31, 2018, rumors of a possible relationship between Jennie and EXO's Kai began to take off when local media outlet Dispatch posted pictures of the two together on a date, with the information that they also had spent time together in Paris in October.[15] On January 1, 2019, SM Entertainment confirmed the pair were dating and gave the statement, "Kai and Jennie have become fond of each other". Later that day, YG Entertainment also confirmed the news.[16]
On January 25, 2019, SM Entertainment revealed that the couple had broken up, but did not reveal the reason for it.[17]
