Jason (Korean: 제이슨; Japanese: ジェイソン) is a Chinese singer-songwriter, producer and actor under Turn East Media. He is a former member of the sub-unit NU'EST-M.
He made his solo debut on November 17, 2014, with the EP Survivor.
Jason had participated in various art activities pre-debut. He starred in several advertisements in 2009 and 2010. In mid-2010, he participated in the Shandong Television's reality show "愛情來敲門".[1]
2010–2012: JBOY3[]
On December 27, 2010, he debuted as the leader of the Chinese boy group JBOY3 with the group's first single "Promise of Love", which peaked at #5 on its first day of release.[2] The group disbanded in early 2012.
2012: Debut with JL[]
In April 2012, Jason and JBOY3's former member, Luo Yunxi, formed the duo JL. They released their first self-titled EP on April 27, 2012.[3] In the same year, JL were invited to participate in the Chinese talent show Asian Wave.
2013–2014: NU'EST-M, new agency, solo debut[]
Jason was a trainee in South Korea with Yue Hua Entertainment for a period in 2013, before debuting with the sub-unit NU'EST-M.[4] Formed as partnership between Pledis Entertainment and Yue Hua Entertainment, the unit was disbanded in early 2014.[5]
On November 17, 2014, Jason released his solo debut EP, Survivor.
2015: Acting debut[]
On April 11, 2015, he won the Top Promising Artist category in the V Chart Awards.[7] He also debuted as an actor on the same year, starring in the Chinese drama Intouchable Butlers.
He was crowned the Most Potential Artist in the Kugou Music Awards on January 10, 2016. On May 21, Jason starred in a Chinese TV series Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me,[8] which gained him lots of attention and new fans in Asia. On February 2017, he was confirmed to play a supporting role for a new Chinese series called Cambrian Period.[9]
