Jang Wonyoung (장원영; or simply Wonyoung) is a South Korean singer, lyricist, model and MC under Starship Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group IVE and a former member of the project girl group IZ*ONE.
Career[]
2018-2021: Produce 48, IZ*ONE[]
On May 11, 2018, she was revealed to be a contestant on Produce 48 as a trainee representing Starship Entertainment. On August 30, she finished the competition in 1st place, thus becoming a member of IZ*ONE as the center and face of the group.[3] The group officially debuted on October 29, 2018 with the mini album Color*IZ and its title track, "La Vie En Rose".
On April 29, 2021, IZ*ONE disbanded after their special contract was concluded. Then, Wonyoung returned to Starship as a trainee.
2021: Debut with IVE, Music Bank[]
On August 22, 2021, Star News reported that Wonyoung and fellow IZ*ONE member Yujin would be members in Starship's upcoming girl group, set to debut in the second half of the year. Starship confirmed the plans, but did not share if the two would be part of the group.[4]
On September 27, it was announced that she and ENHYPEN's Sunghoon had become the new MC of Music Bank and her first broadcast taking place on October 8 replacing OH MY GIRL's Arin and TXT's Soobin as the previous MCs.[5]
On November 2, following the official reveal of the girl group, an article was published on Naver confirming that Wonyoung will be making her re-debut in IVE.[6] The group debuted on December 1, 2021 with the single album "Eleven".
2022: "Blue & Black"[]
On June 6, 2022, it was announced that members of IVE, OH MY GIRL, and CRAVITY would collaborate for a digital single that would be released as part of Starship Entertainment's ongoing collaboration project with Pepsi. That same day, the members of said groups that would be participating were revealed, including Wonyoung.[7] The collaborative single, titled "Blue & Black", was released on June 28.
On September 1, it was announced that Wonyoung had renewed her contract as an MC on Music Bank - the first time ever in the show's history.[8]
2023: Departure from Music Bank[]
On January 11, 2023, Starship Entertainment announced that Jang Wonyoung would be stepping down as MC on Music Bank. Her last episode was on January 13.[9]

Education[]
As a child, she attended flute, piano, violin and swimming academies, including mathematics and English tutoring.[citation needed]
After starting her activities as a member of IZ*ONE, Off The Record Entertainment announced that Wonyoung and her parents intended to be homeschooled in 2019.[10] So she left Yonggang Middle School and took the qualifying exam. She passed with a perfect score in Korean, English and math.[11]
In 2020, she entered the Seoul School of Performing Arts with a major in practical music. She graduated on February 9, 2023.[12]
Health[]
On August 29, 2021, Starship Entertainment shared that Wonyoung, along with labelmate Yujin, had been in contact with a staff member who had tested positive for COVID-19 and had received tests immediately. While Yujin had tested negative at the time, Wonyoung unfortunately tested positive after receiving her test.[13]
On September 10, Starship announced that Wonyoung was deemed fully recovered and left the treatment center, which she had previously been admitted to for her recovery; looking to rest in order to assure that her activities were not affected.[14]
