Jaemin (재민) is a South Korean singer, rapper, actor and lyricist under SM Entertainment. He is a member of the boy group NCT and its sub-units NCT Dream and NCT U.
Career
Pre-debut
In 2013, he was street-casted by SM Entertainment‘s staff when he was working at a volunteering event.[1]
In 2014, he participated with other SMROOKIES members on the show Exo 90:2014, where they performed songs from the 90s.[2] He was featured in many SMROOKIES event such as the Rookies Station, & SMTOWN Live World Tour IV, before he was introduced on April 22, 2015.[3]
He was then featured as a member on the Disney Channel Korea show The Mickey Mouse Club with fellow SMROOKIES members,[4] the show aired from July 23 to December 17, 2015.
2016–2017: NCT Dream and hiatus
Jaemin was introduced as the final member of the third sub-unit of NCT, NCT Dream, on August 22, 2016.[5] He officially debuted with the group on August 25, 2016, with the single "Chewing Gum". He was unable to attend the 2016 MAMA with the group and went on a hiatus as he was receiving treatment for his herniated disc.[6]
On August 13, 2017, Jaemin left a message on the NCT website thanking his fans for the birthday wishes and asking the fans to support NCT Dream on their then-upcoming mini-album We Young.[7]
2018–present: NCT 2018
On February 2, 2018, a promotional picture of Jaemin was shared on NCT's Instagram account for the album NCT 2018 Empathy.[8] This was to be Jaemin's first release since his debut with NCT Dream in August of 2016.
