  1. His original name was Jeong Jae-hyun (정재현) but he had to change his name to Jeong Yun-o (정윤오) because of his grandmother: she wanted his name to have a strong meaning, because Korean names have names in Hanja (that is, in Chinese characters) and Jaehyun does not have a Hanja name, as there is no Chinese character for Hyun (현), which in her view was unacceptable, so his family changed his name to Jeong Yun-o, as Yun (or Yoon) means "interim" or "extra" and O (or Oh) means "five" or "military".
  2. Originally it was said that Jaehyun was a native of Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, but recently it was revealed that he was born at Cha Medical Center Gangnam (a hospital located in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul). Because of this, his real birthplace is Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul and not Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul as originally stated.
