J-Hope (제이홉; stylized in lower case) is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer under BigHit Music. He is a member of the boy group BTS.

He released his first mixtape, Hope World on March 2, 2018. He then made his official solo debut with his first full-length album Jack In The Box on July 15, 2022.

Career[]

2013: Debut with BTS[]

He debuted as a member of BTS on June 13, 2013 with the single album "2 Cool 4 Skool".

2018: Hope World[]

On March 2, 2018, he released his first mixtape, Hope World.[1]

2022: "More" and Jack In The Box[]

After the announcement of the group, BTS, going on hiatus, a representative from BigHit Music also revealed that J-Hope will be the first member to begin solo activities.[2] On June 26, it was announced that J-Hope would be releasing his first full-length album, Jack In The Box, on July 15, along with a pre-release single titled "More" on July 1.[3]

2023: "On the Street"[]

On February 27, 2023, it was announced that J-Hope will be releasing his third digital single, "On the Street", ahead of his military enlistment on March 3.[4]

2024: Hope on the Street Vol.1[]

On February 18, 2024, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope will be releasing his first special album Hope on the Street Vol.1 on March 29.[5]

Personal life[]

Military service[]

On February 26, 2023, BigHit Music announced that J-Hope applied for the termination of his enlistment postponement and will soon start his military service.[6] On April 1, 2023, BigHit released a statement stating that J-Hope will be enlisting into the military as an active duty soldier.[7] On April 13, it was reported that he will be enlisting on April 18, although BigHit did not confirm the reports.[8] He will be discharged on October 17, 2024.[citation needed]
