Jeong I chan (정이찬), also simply known as ichan (이찬), is a South Korean singer-songwriter and producer under HYPLE Entertainment. He is a part of the producing team YOUTH, under PAPERMAKER.
He made his solo debut on June 23, 2022 with the digital single "Eternal Summer".
He is best known for participating in the reality survival show I-LAND under the name Jaebeom (재범) and reality survival shows Boys Planet.
Career[]
2020: I-LAND[]
On June 3, 2020, Jaebeom was introduced as a participant in the CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment's then upcoming survival show I-LAND.[2] On the first episode, he performed "Shoot Out" by MONSTA X, along with Sungchul and Jimin, but was unfortunately "eliminated" and was unable to enter "I-LAND" and was placed in "Ground".[3] As half of the I-LANDER team had to be sent to "Ground" in the third episode, the producers chose 6 people, with Jaebeom being one of them, from "Ground" to be sent to "I-LAND".[4] However, on the sixth episode, he was voted back to "Ground" with a total of 10 people voting him back.[5] On the seventh episode, he was unfortunately eliminated from the show and was unable to participate in Part 2.[6]
2022: New agency, solo debut with "Eternal Summer", Boys Planet[]
On June 20, 2022, Jeong I chan shared that he had signed with HYPLE Entertainment.[7] He then announced his debut digital single "Eternal Summer" to be released on June 23.[8]
On December 29, ichan was announced as a contestant for the survival show Boys Planet, which premiered on February 2, 2023.[9] On March 23, he was eliminated in episode 8 after ranking 49th place.[10]
2023: "Stranger"[]
On June 28, 2023, HYPLE Entertainment announced ichan's second digital single "Stranger", which will be released on July 12.[11]
