IVE (아이브) is a six-member girl group under Starship Entertainment. They debuted on December 1, 2021 with their single album “Eleven”.
Their name is an abbreviation for "I Have".[2]
History[]
Pre-debut[]
In 2018, Yujin and Wonyoung competed on Mnet's survival show Produce 48 in which they ranked in the final 12, thus debuting as members of the project girl group IZ*ONE. The group debuted on October 29, 2018 and disbanded on April 29, 2021.
On February 18, 2021, it was announced that An Yujin would become the new MC for Inkigayo, replacing Naeun of APRIL.[3] She made her first appearance as an MC, alongside TREASURE's Jihoon and NCT's Sungchan, on March 7.
On August 22, 2021, an article published by Star News revealed that Starship Entertainment would be debuting a new girl group during the second half of 2021; it was also stated that former members of IZ*ONE An Yu Jin and Jang Won Young, who are also artists under the label, would be included in the group. Later that same day, Starship confirmed the plans to debut the group but however left no comment regarding Yujin and Wonyoung's inclusion.[4]
On September 27, it was announced that Jang Wonyoung and ENHYPEN's Sunghoon would become the new MCs for KBS' Music Bank, replacing OH MY GIRL's Arin and TXT's Soobin after they stepped down from their positions as the previous MCs.[5]
On November 1, the group's official SNS accounts were opened along with the reveal of their name "IVE" and the motion video of their logo.[6] On November 2, the next day, a Naver article was published reporting that the group will be made up of six members and that previously revealed members An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung are to be included along with four other Starship Entertainment trainees.[7] The next day, Yujin was officially announced as the group's first member,[8] followed by Gaeul on November 3,[9] Wonyoung on November 4,[10] Liz on November 5,[11] Rei on November 6,[12] and Leeseo on November 7.[13]
2021: Debut with "Eleven", first music show win, fandom name[]
It was later revealed that the group will be debuting on December 1, 2021.[14] Two days later, it was announced the group would debut with their first single album, titled "Eleven".[15] To promote the group's debut with the single album, a face-to-face showcase was held on the release day of the single album. The showcase was also broadcasted on the group's official channel.[16]
On November 15, a video series called "Show What I Have" was started on the group's official YouTube channel, where each member introduced themselves, starting with An Yujin on November 15, followed by Rei on November 16, Leeseo on November 17, Liz on November 18, Gaeul on November 19 and Jang Wonyoung on November 20.[17]
After the start of promotions the single "Eleven" climbed the Korean charts reaching the Top 10 on all major digital charts.[18][19] The single also reached the TOP 10 on the Gaon Digital Chart.[20] The album later became certified Platinum by the Korean Music Content Association (KMCA) for selling over 250,000 copies.[21] In less than a month after its release, "Eleven" sold over 260,000 copies. It ended the year as the 49th best selling album of the year in Korea.[22]
On December 8, 2021, IVE received their first music show win on MBC's Show Champion for "Eleven." They became the fastest girl group to achieve their first win at only seven days post-debut, beating the previous record of nine days held by ITZY.[23] The next day, IVE revealed through their Twitter that their fandom name would be DIVE.[24]
2022: First comeback with "Love Dive", Japanese promotions, "After Like"[]
On March 15, 2022, a teaser posted across IVE's social medias announced the group would be making first ever comeback on April 5 with their second single album, titled "Love Dive".[25] On this day, the single album and its title track of the same name were released. Two months later, on June 8, the album was certified Double Platinum by the Korean Music Contents Association (KMCA) for selling 500,000 copies on Gaon Chart.[26]
On May 23, it was announced that Yujin would be releasing a collaboration single with Olympic figure skater Yuna Kim as part of the 2022 Gatorade x Starship Campaign.[27] Two days later, on May 25, it was revealed that Kang Daniel would also take part in the song.[28] The collaborative single, titled "Move Like This", was released on June 6.
On June 6, 2022, it was announced that members of IVE, OH MY GIRL, and CRAVITY would collaborate for a digital single that would be released as part of Starship Entertainment's ongoing collaboration project with Pepsi. That same day, the members of said groups that would be participating were revealed, including Wonyoung and Leeseo.[29] The collaborative single, titled "Blue & Black", was released on June 28. Three days later, it was revealed through Gaon Chart that IVE had accumulated over 1 million physical albums sold just 6 months after their debut, making them a member of the 'million-seller club'.[30] On June 14, it was announced that IVE will be releasing a Japanese version of their debut single, "Eleven", sometime in the summer. The song was selected as the theme song for Fuji TV's Virtual Adventure Island 2022, which will begin on August 11.[31] Nearly a month later, on September 8, a special website linked via IVE's official Japanese website shared the debut's work, release date, and format.[32] "Eleven -Japanese ver.-" will be released on October 19, 2022.
On July 17, Starship Entertainment confirmed reports stating that the group is preparing for an August comeback.[33] On July 24, a teaser posted across the group's social medias announced their third single album, titled "After Like", would be released on August 22.[34] On this day the single album, along with its title track of the same name, were released. The album and its title track were a commercial success, the album went on to sell 1 million copies in its first week on the Circle Album Charts while the song hit #1 on Korea's major digital platforms.[35] On October 6, the album was certified Million by the Korean Music Contents Association (KMCA) for selling 1 million copies on Circle Chart (formerly Gaon).[36]
On August 10, it was announced via IVE's official Japanese website that the group will make their Japanese debut sometime in fall 2022.[37] A month later, on September 8, it was announced that the group's debut single, "Eleven -Japanese ver.-" would be released on October 19.[38] The single was later certified Gold by the Recording Industry of Japan (RIAJ) for selling over 100,000 units.[39]
On September 1, Circle Chart (formerly Gaon) reported that IVE had surpassed 2 million cumulative album sales on the chart just 9 months after their debut, thus becoming the fastest K-pop group in history to do so.[40] On September 13, Instiz's iChart revealed that "After Like" had scored a perfect all-kill, making it the rookie girl group's first song ever to do so.[41] On September 19, it was announced that the group would become ambassadors for the "Everyone's Campaign" of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross Institute.[42]
On November 26, IVE won Song of the Year with their song "Love Dive" at the Melon Music Awards which makes this the group's first daesang and took them 360 days to do so.[43]

On January 1, 2023, the group announced through their official Japanese website that their first Japanese digital single, "Love Dive -Japanese ver.-", will be released on January 16.[44]
On January 3, the group announced the design of their official light stick.[45]
On February 17, Xports News reported that IVE will be releasing an album in April.[46] Hours later, Starship Entertainment confirmed the reports and added that IVE will be making a comeback with their first full-length album in early April.[47] Nearly a month later, on March 16, a teaser posted across IVE's social medias announce the album, titled I've IVE, will be released on April 10.[48][49] "Kitsch" will be pre-released on March 27. Ive members have writing credits with 7 of their 11 songs on their full-length album, I've Ive.[50]
On March 24, Kakao Entertainment announced a new partnership with Columbia Records with aims to manage IVE's global promotions such as music distribution, local marketing and promotions.[51]
On April 1, it was announced that they will release their first Japanese EP, Wave, on May 31.[52]
On April 11, 2023, Starship Entertainment released a statement stating that Rei will be taking a break from schedules due to health reasons related to abnormal symptoms such as heart palpitations and stuffiness.[53]
On May 26, Starship released an updated statement and revealed that Rei will be returning from hiatus.[54]
On July 27, it was reported by music officials that IVE will be having a comeback during the first week of October. Later in the day, Starship confirmed the reports and added that an exact schedule will be released soon.[55]
On August 11, IVE announced their first world tour IVE The 1st World Tour "Show What I Have" with first shows in Seoul and Japan.[56] Additional tour dates throughout Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania were announced on November 7.[57]
On September 3, it was announced that they will release their first EP, I've Mine on October 13.[58] "Either Way" and "Off The Record" will be pre-released on September 25 and October 6, 2023 respectively. The two pre-release title tracks as well as the third title track "Baddie" all charted within the top 15 of the Circle Digital Chart[59], with the latter peaking at #1.[60]
2024: "All Night"[]
On January 9, 2024, IVE announced that their first English digital single featuring American rapper and singer Saweetie, "All Night", that released on January 19.[61]
