INY (아이니) was a four-member girl group under Kongnamul Factory. Originally as a trio, they debuted on March 18, 2011 with their first digital single "Do You Have A Dream".
The group presumably disbanded in late 2013.
Their group name is an acronym for "I Need You".[1]
History[]
Pre-debut[]
In early 2010, INY performed at an event for the 2010 World Cup celebration with four members, Ella, Woorin and two unknown members who later left the group.[2]
In September 2010, Kongnamul Factory posted a video of Ella and Woorin announcing that they were holding auditions to find two more members for INY and would be scheduled for debut in November.[3] During this time, INY was already promoting in various activities with Ella and Woorin.
In October 2010, it was revealed that they had recruited two new members, Miu and Eunbi, for their debut in January 2011.[4] However, Eunbi ended up leaving the group pre-debut sometime in late 2010.
2011: Debut with "Do You Have A Dream", "Do You Have A Dream Pt.2", Ella and Miu's departure and addition of Mika, Maxy & Len[]
On March 18, 2011, INY made their debut as a trio with the digital single "Do You Have A Dream". In promotion for the single, they held their debut showcase at Apgujeong Arts Hall on the 19th.[5]
On July 4, the group released their second digital single "Do You Have A Dream Pt.2". Shortly after this release, Miu and Ella left the group.
On August 12, three new members, Mika, Maxy and Len, were introduced during their promotions in Japan.[6][1]
2012: Len's hiatus and departure, addition of Seryon and cancelled comeback[]
In March 2012, Len was absent from the group's activities due to a knee injury.[7] She was later replaced by new member Seryon, who had her first stage with the group on April 21.[8][9]
On September 24, the group revealed that they were filming a music video for their comeback.[10] On December 20, their CEO confirmed that the recording and mixing of their new song had been finished and was set to be released in early 2013.[11] However, plans presumably fell through and the comeback remains unreleased.
2013-2014: Seryon's departure, addition of Jieun and disbandment[]
Sometime in 2013, Seryon left the group and was replaced by Jieun.[12]
Since October 21, their SNS stopped updating.[13] All four remaining members later joined Show Works Entertainment and re-debuted as Smile.G on May 29, 2014. Therefore, it is assumed that the group had disbanded.
