i-13 (아이 써틴) was a 13-member girl group under Lime Music. They debuted on October 18, 2005 with their first and only album One More Time. They disbanded in late 2007.

Their name "I" means "나" (Korean for 'I') but also as "아이" (Korean for 'child') as the members are in their childhood while 13 represents the number of members. However, the original meaning of their first name "I의 의미" or "I-<I-13" was to show the eternity, infinite potential and endless efforts by the members[1]

History[]

2005–2007[]

Consisting of members from the ages of 12 to 18, they trained for two years[1] before debuting on October 18, 2005 with their first album One More Time. They went on hiatus after the release of their album and disbanded without any official announcements in late 2007.

Aftermath[]

On September 25, 2009, it was announced that three i-13 members Jin (Minjung), Ja (Jieun), and Sa (Gajin) would be starting a new group called JQT under GP Entertainment with one new member, Min Sun.[2]

Following JQT's disbandment, Jin (Minjung), Ja (Jieun) and Sa (Gajin) re-debuted in the five-member girl group, S the One, in March 2012.[3]

Trivia[]

  • 12 of the 13 member stage names (excluding Mo, meaning "pattern") are based on the Chinese calendrical system of Earthly Branches (a form of the Chinese zodiac), though the names do not appear to have been assigned in any particular order.[citation needed]
  • Prior to debuting in i-13, Mi (Songyi) and Hae (Kim Sujin) were former child actresses.
