Hwa Sa (화사) is a South Korean singer and rapper under P NATION. She is the maknae of the girl group MAMAMOO and a former member of project girl group Refund Sisters.
She made her solo debut on February 13, 2019 with the digital single "Twit".[2]

2014: Debut with MAMAMOO[]
She debuted as a member of MAMAMOO with their first mini album Hello on June 19, 2014.
2019: Solo debut[]

2023: Departure from RBW, P NATION[]
On June 27, 2023, Xportsnews reported that Hwasa is currently in talks to sign with PSY's agency P NATION, as her contract with RBW expires at the end of the month. P NATION confirmed that signing a contract is currently under discussion.[3] Several hours later, RBW announced that Hwasa officially left the agency as her contract had expired and decided to not renew.[4]
On June 30, P NATION officially confirmed Hwasa as the new artist of the label.[5]
2024: Fandom name, Fancon tour, upcoming release[]
On March 12, 2024, P NATION revealed the fandom name "Twits".[1] On March 14, her first Fancon tour called 'Twits' was announced.[6] The first stop will be held on April 20 in Seoul.
On September 9, Hwa Sa announced that she would be coming back on September 19.[7] Later that day, the second mini album O was announced.[8]

On June 30, 2023, Sports Seoul reported that Hwa Sa has been dating an entrepreneur 12 years her senior for five years. Her agency stated that they are checking with the artist.[9] On July 2, P NATION stated that it is difficult to confirm whether the rumors are true as it is the artist's personal life.[10]

- She is a fan of Barbadian singer Rihanna.[19]
- She's the group's cook due to her love of cooking.[citation needed]
- After she played a musical role as "Patzzi" back in elementary school, she started working in the music industry. One of her supposed stage name was "PowG" which sounds similar to her musical role.[citation needed]
- Her stage name, "Hwasa", means shining brightly in Korean. She chose this name because her birth name, Hyejin, is too common in Korea.[20]
- An incident during the live broadcast of Music Bank gave her the nickname 화사자 (Hwa-Saja), or Hwa-lion. The reason is that her hair got stuck on her headband, and it raised her hair up, making it look like a lion's mane. It became a running gag between the members and the fans. Coincidentally, her zodiac sign is Leo, the lion.[citation needed]
