Hur Young Ji (허영지; or simply Youngji) is a South Korean singer and actress under SM C&C. She is the maknae of the girl group KARA.
She made her solo debut on September 12, 2023 with the single album "Toi Toi Toi".
Career[]
2014–2016: KARA Project, KARA[]
In 2014, Hur Young Ji became a contestant on the reality show KARA Project aimed to find the new member of the girl group KARA. She ranked 1st place in the finale and ultimately joined KARA as a new member.[2] She made her debut as a member of KARA on August 18, 2014 with the release of their sixth mini album Day & Night.
On January 15, 2016, DSP Media announced Gyuri, Seungyeon and Hara's departure from KARA due to contract expiration. The company also noted that Youngji would continue her music career as a solo artist. The company is planning to help Youngji succeed and develop for the future.[3]
2016–present: Solo career[]
On December 8, 2016, she was revealed as a hidden member of DSP Media's new co-ed group KARD for their first pre-debut single "Oh NaNa".[4]
On August 16, 2017, DSP announced that Hur Young Ji will release a solo song "Memory Clock", on August 25.[5]
On August 18, 2021, it was reported that Hur Young Ji had renewed her contract with DSP Media.[6]
On August 11, 2023, DSP announced that Hur Young Ji will make her official solo debut in September.[7] On August 28, they announced the single album, "Toi Toi Toi", scheduled for release on September 12.[8]
Her first Japanese single, "Toi Toi Toi", was released on December 28.[9]
On September 5, 2024, DSP Media announced that Youngji had departed from the company after 10 years following the expiration of her exclusive contract.[10]
On September 9, SM C&C announced that Youngji had singed on with them.[11]
