The decade ONEWE were assigned to produce "Hippie (Freedom from MM)" was the 2000's. "Hippie (Freedom from MM)" reflects ONEWE in the youth of the 2000's who pursued their individuality and expressed their freedom, not just following the trends.
"Hippie (Freedom from MM)" is one of three songs prepared by ONEWE for the "Song of the Decade" round. It was mainly written and composed by ONEWE member Yong Hoon and was chosen for the performance in discussion with team leaders MINUE, and N.Flying's Lee Seung Hyub and Kim Jae Hyun. The two other songs proposed were prepared by ONEWE members Kang Hyun and Giuk, titled "Planet Nine" and "Apocalypse" respectively. "Apocalypse" was released in Giuk's solo debut mini album Psycho Xybernetics: Turn Over on April 20, 2023.
