Kim Jae Joong (김재중; also known mononymously as Jaejoong and as J-Jun in Japan) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, actor, director, and designer under iNKODE. He is a member of the boy group JYJ and a former member of TVXQ!.
He made his solo debut on January 17, 2013 with the mini album I.
Early life[]
Kim Jae Joong was born Han Jae-joon. His real birthday, as revealed by his birth mother, is February 4, 1986. At a young age, he was given up for adoption by his biological mother to the Kim family, and his name was legally changed to Kim Jae-jung.[2] He acknowledges January 26, 1986 as his official date of birth.
Career[]
2003–2010: TVXQ!, lawsuit against SM Entertainment[]
Kim Jae Joong originally debuted as a member of TVXQ! with the group's first live performance of the song "Hug". The song was later released as a single album on January 15, 2004.
On July 31, 2009, Kim Jae Joong, alongside Junsu and Yoochun, filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment, citing excessively long contracts, unauthorized schedules, and unfair profit distribution.[3] In October, the Seoul Central District Court granted the three members a contract injunction. Despite the injunction, however, the three members continued with TVXQ! activities in Japan under their Japanese label Avex Trax. TVXQ! performed as a five-member group for the final time on December 31 at the 60th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen.[4]
On March 24, 2010, TVXQ! released their final Japanese single as a five-member group: "Toki o Tomete".
2010: Formation of JYJ[]
On April 14, 2010, Avex Trax announced the formation of JYJ, which would include Kim Jae Joong, Junsu, and Yoochun.[5] The trio officially debuted on September 8 with their first mini album The....
2013: Solo debut[]
Kim Jae Joong made his solo debut on January 17, 2013 with his first mini album I.
2023: Departure from C-JeS Entertainment, new agency[]
On April 19, it was announced that Kim Jae Joong would be leaving C-JeS Entertainment after 14 years.[6]
On May 4, Kim Jae Joong established his new agency, iNKODE.[7]

Military service[]
He enlisted into the military as an active duty soldier on March 31, 2015.[8] On December 29, 2016, he was officially discharged.[9]
