Hengyu (Korean: 헝위; Chinese: 亨裕), also known by his birth name Sun Heng Yu, and formerly known as U (유), is a Chinese singer. He is a member of the upcoming project boy group MODYSSEY and a former member of the pre-debut boy group DV.OL and the boy group BLANK2Y.
He is also known for being a contestant on the Korean survival show Boys II Planet and its Chinese spin-off Planet C: Home Race.
Career[]
2022–2023: BLANK2Y[]
On February 14, 2022, the CEO of Keystone Entertainment revealed U as the sixth member of their upcoming boy group BLANK2Y.[1] They debuted on May 24, 2022 with the mini album K2Y I : Confidence [Thumbs Up].
2023–2024: Departure from Keystone Entertainment, new agency, DV.OL[]
On June 27, 2023, it was announced that he, along with DK, Louis, Sungjun and Sodam, had terminated their exclusive contracts with Keystone Entertainment after an in-depth discussion.[2]
On August 16, it was announced that he, along with DK, Louis, Sungjun, and Sodam have signed with DS Entertainment.[3]
On October 23, U was announced as a member of the upcoming boy group DV.OL.[4] However, as the group has been inactive since January 2024, it is speculated that their debut was cancelled.
2025–2026: Boys II Planet, Planet C: Home Race, debut with MODYSSEY[]
On June 12, 2025, he was introduced as a contestant of Mnet's survival show Boys II Planet as an individual trainee.[5] On September 18, he was eliminated in episode 10 after ranking 20th place.[6]
On October 29, he was announced as a contestant of Mnet's survival show Planet C: Home Race, a spin-off of Boys II Planet, as an individual trainee.[7] During the show's finale, he was revealed to have ranked 1st overall, thus making him a member of MODYSSEY and the group's center.[8]
On January 9, 2026, it was announced through the member's profile that Sun Heng Yu had changed his stage name to simply Hengyu.[9]
