HeeJin (Korean: 희진; Japanese: ヒジン; Chinese: 姬振) is a South Korean singer and lyricist under MODHAUS. She is a member of the girl groups ARTMS, LOONA and its first sub-unit LOONA 1/3. She is also a former member of the virtual girl group Feverse under the name Rien (리엔).

She made her solo debut on October 5, 2016 with the single album "HeeJin".

Career

2016: Reveal, solo debut

On September 26, 2016, Heejin was revealed as the first member of LOONA. Her solo single album, titled "HeeJin", was released on October 5, 2016.

2017: Debut with LOONA 1/3, MIXNINE

She debuted as a member of the group's first sub-unit, LOONA 1/3, on March 7, 2017 with the mini album Love & Live.

In October, Heejin, alongside fellow members HyunJin and HaSeul, became contestants on the survival show MIXNINE, representing their agency and group. She ranked 4th place in the finale, however, was eliminated when the boys' team won against the girls', thus ultimately not being able to debut.

2018: Debut with LOONA

On August 20, 2018, LOONA debuted as a full twelve-member group with their first mini album + +.

2022–2024: Lawsuits against BlockBerryCreative, signing with MODHAUS, ARTMS, solo comeback with <K>

In an article published by JTBC on November 28, it was revealed that Heejin and all LOONA members except Hyunjin and Vivi have reportedly filed a lawsuit to suspend their contracts with BlockBerryCreative due to their trust in the company being damaged. BlockBerryCreative denies all claims. On January 13, 2023, the Seoul Northern District Court announced that they ruled in favor of HeeJin, along with Kim Lip, JinSoul and Choerry, to suspend their exclusive contracts with BlockBerryCreative. On February 1, a source from BlockBerryCreative confirmed that they will submit a petition asking to suspend their entertainment activities.

On March 17, it was announced that she, alongside JinSoul, Kim Lip and Choerry, have signed exclusive contracts with MODHAUS.

On April 1, she, alongside JinSoul, Kim Lip and Choerry were revealed to be taking part in MODHAUS' strategy project ARTMS.

On August 3, E Daily reported that HeeJin will be releasing new music in October. Later in the day, MODHAUS confirmed the reports and added that she will be releasing a solo album. On October 6, a teaser was revealed for her first solo mini album, <K>, set to be released on October 31.

On June 20, 2024, it was revealed that she, alongside JinSoul, Kim Lip and Choerry won their lawsuit against Blockberry Creative.

Health

On February 28, 2022, BlockBerryCreative announced that fellow members Yeojin, HaSeul, and Vivi had tested positive for COVID-19. BlockBerry stated that other members, not named, had tested positive on the self home kit and that they that they are waiting for the PCR test to confirm. As a result, LOONA will not be participating in the first round of Queendom 2. On the next day, BlockBerry announced that the PCR tests came back and Heejin along with seven other members had tested positive for COVID-19.

• HeeJin lived in Brazil for one month when she was in grade school.
  • During the time she lived in Brazil, she lived in São Paulo (the largest city in Brazil), where she lived in the Bom Retiro neighborhood (where part of her family still lives today), famous for being the largest Koreatown in Brazil and for the high number of Korean residents (who migrated from the Korean Peninsula to Brazil from the 1960s onwards) and their descendants.
• She is the youngest of three daughters.
• In 2015, she was casted through social media by BlockBerryCreative and became a trainee. HeeJin trained for 1 year before she was selected to be the first member of the agency's upcoming girl group.
• Her nickname is Heekki (희끼), which is a portmanteau of her name and the word for rabbit (토끼). She originally gave this name to the rabbit she met on set while filming her first MV.
• Her goal is for LOONA to become the best girl group in Korea, and to become a singer that others can look up to.
• In the audition, she sang LYn’s ‘Ring Tone’ and got accepted.
• HeeJin likes animals, but is allergic to animal fur. She also has a fear of birds, especially pigeons.
• HeeJin really likes bread, she visits bakeries as a hobby. She says the taste of European bread is best.

• HeeJin revealed that as a trainee, she lived in the countryside and had initial difficulties attending training because she lived over 4 hours away from Seoul, didn't have enough training time and struggled financially with affording transportation.

• She is a skilled belly dancer, as she trained for four years and even won a belly dancing championship before becoming a K-pop idol.
