Happyface Girls was the tentative name for the pre-debut girl group under HF Music Company. The group presumably disbanded sometime in 2022 after their debut plan was scrapped, and the members gradually left the company since late 2021.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
In early 2020, all the members excluding Lee Si An were first seen as backup dancers for Dreamcatcher during the promotion of Scream, with Choi Han Na being the masked dancer who replaced Handong while she was absent due to schedules in China.
In June 2020, Lee Si An appeared in D1CE's music video for "Draw You", confirming that she has become a trainee of a label under Dreamcatcher Company.[1]
In October 2020, Oh Seo Hyun became a contestant on the teen reality competition show CAP-TEEN.
In March 2021, HF Music Company announced a Japanese audition to be held on MixChannel TV to find a new member for the group.[2] Later in the same year, the five finalists of the audition were revealed to be Ririka, Kanami, Rumi, as well as former HitGirlz members Ayu and Ryoka. However, no winner was announced from the audition and the finalists were sent back to Japan.
Sometime in late 2021, Kim So Hyun presumably left HF Music Company.[citation needed]
On May 25, 2022, Choi Han Na was introduced as a new member of the upcoming girl group WITCHERS under the stage name Risia.[3] Due to this announcement, it was assumed that HF Music Company has released all the trainees and scrapped the girl group debut plan.
