HaSeul (Korean: 하슬; Japanese: ハスル; Chinese: 夏瑟) is a South Korean singer under MODHAUS. She is a member of the girl group ARTMS, leader of LOONA and its first sub-unit LOONA 1/3.

Career[]

2016: Reveal, solo debut[]

On December 8, 2016, she was revealed as the third member of LOONA. Her solo single album, titled "HaSeul", was released on December 15.

2017: Debut with LOONA 1/3, MIXNINE[]

She debuted as a member of the group's first sub-unit, LOONA 1/3, on March 7, 2017 with the mini album Love & Live.

In October, HaSeul, alongside fellow members HeeJin and HyunJin, auditioned for the survival show MIXNINE. However, HaSeul did not pass the audition.[1]

2018: Debut with LOONA[]

On August 20, 2018, LOONA debuted as a full twelve-member group with their first mini album + +.

2022–2023: Lawsuits against BlockBerryCreative, "Plastic Candy"[]

In an article published by JTBC on November 28, it was revealed that Haseul and all LOONA members except Hyunjin and Vivi have reportedly filed a lawsuit to suspend their contracts with BlockBerryCreative due to their trust in the company being damaged. BlockBerryCreative denies all claims.[2] On January 13, 2023, it was revealed that HaSeul, along with Yves, Go Won, Olivia Hye and YeoJin lost the trial against BlockBerryCreative for terminating their exclusive contracts.[3]

On June 16, 2023, The Seoul High Court's 5th Civil Cases Division ruled in favor of her, along with Yves, Go Won, Olivia Hye and YeoJin, to suspend their exclusive contracts with BlockBerryCreative.[4]

On June 20, 2023, HaSeul officially signed with MODHAUS and joined their strategy project, ARTMS, which consists of LOONA members.[5]

On October 26, ARTMS announced that HaSeul will be releasing her first digital single "Plastic Candy" later that day.[6]

2024: "Fragile Eyes"[]

On December 2, ARTMS announced that HaSeul will be releasing her second digital single "Fragile Eyes" on December 9.[7]

On January 8, 2020, BlockBerryCreative released a statement stating that HaSeul had been diagnosed with recurring anxiety. In order to recover, it has been decided that she will be taking a temporary hiatus to focus on her mental health. As a result, HaSeul was on hiatus throughout 2020 and did not partake in the promotions of the albums # and 12:00.[8][9] Though, she returned in June 2021 to promote LOONA's fourth mini-album, [&].

On February 28, 2022, BlockBerryCreative announced that HaSeul along with fellow members Yeojin and Vivi had tested positive for COVID-19 on February 25 from a self home kit and on February 26 from a PCR test. The three members have stopped all activities and are following the guidelines and taking the necessary measures. As a result, LOONA will not be participating in the first round of Queendom 2.[10]
