Giuk (기욱), formerly known as CyA (키아), is a South Korean rapper, musician, songwriter, and producer under RBW. He is the bassist and maknae of the boy band ONEWE.
He made his solo debut on April 20, 2023 with the mini album Psycho Xybernetics : Turn Over.
Career[]
2015–2016: M.A.S 0094 formation and debut[]
Giuk is one of three founding members, recruiting two additional members to self-form the 5-piece band M.A.S 0094, now known as ONEWE.
Giuk, along with members Kang Hyun and Harin, formed the band as the three youngest students of their music academy Modern K, when Giuk was in his last year of elementary school (around 2012). Giuk then invited his neighbour Dong Myeong to join the band. Lastly, the band met and recruited their final member Yong Hoon with a cup of coffee at a singer-songwriter contest in May 2015.[1]
Now complete as five members, the band chose the name M.A.S 0094 to mean "Make A Sound" plus the birth years of their youngest ("2000") and eldest ("1994") members. Giuk went by the stage name CyA.
From May of 2015, M.A.S 0094 began busking together on the streets of Hongdae.
He released his first single with M.A.S 0094 on August 13, 2015, his self-written song "Butterfly, Find a Flower", and made his official debut with the band on August 2, 2016 on SBS MTV's The Show.
2017–2019: MAS and The Unit, re-debut as ONEWE[]
On April 1, 2017, Giuk, with M.A.S 0094, signed an exclusive artist contract with RBW and the bands' name was shortened to MAS.
In October of the same year, Giuk auditioned alongside MAS for the survival show The Unit. He was eliminated in the 7th episode and ranked 59th place.
In June of 2018, his band's name was changed again from MAS to ONEWE.
He made his re-debut with ONEWE under RBW on May 13, 2019, with the digital single album "1/4".
2023: Solo debut with Psycho Xybernetics : Turn Over, Rise Waves[]
On March 9, 2023, Giuk announced he would no longer be going by the stage name CyA and would use his birth name Giuk for all official activities, both as ONEWE and solo.[2]
Giuk made his solo debut on April 20, 2023 with the mini album Psycho Xybernetics : Turn Over. This was preceded by his first solo concert Prologue : Turn Over on April 8 and 9 and followed by his encore concert Epilogue : Turn Over on June 24.
On October 6, it was announced that Giuk would be holding a solo concert Flight1112: Giuk (ONEWE) on November 11, 2023.[3]
On November 1, a teaser was released announcing that Giuk would be making his solo comeback on November 15, 2023 with his second mini album Rise Waves.[4]
