Girls Frontier (특전!소녀전선!) was a live idol survival program held in YES24 Wanderloch Hall at 29 Sinchon-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

The event has been spread over several weeks beginning on March 6, 2024 at 9:00PM (KST) and ended on December 23, 2024.

Concept[]

Girls Frontier is a first-of-a-kind jihadol project survival program in existence, a Korean subculture of underground idols. It features contestants who come from various backgrounds such as current and former jihadols, influencers, content creators, BJs, maid café waitresses, former K-pop idols, former K-pop trainees [and many more] who will compete to debut in a jihadol girl group.

The program is exclusively held as an offline live event and is not televised, being localized to YES24 Wanderloch Hall. Viewers can not only check the growth process of the participants through various contents, but also support them at offline venues, give points according to each team's performance to influence the team ranking, and purchase various team-specific goods.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Girls Frontier is the first jihadol survival program. It is stylized after K-pop idol survival shows, but is exclusively catered to those who wish to enter the jihadol subculture.
  • Since Girls Frontier is a jihadol program, contestants are not in anyway required to have previous training in either dancing or singing or any idol experience. The very point of being a jihadol is to grow and progress onstage.
    • It originates from Japanese Chika idol culture and bares little to no similarities to Korean K-pop idol culture. Jihadols are active through live performances rather than through exposure from mass media or CD releases through major record labels, thus making them more accessible to fans in comparison to mainstream idols.

More accurately, there were 8 departed contestants, however officially 7 is counted as Miju of Aka Ringo departed the program immediately after the selection of teams and before official events began, thus she is not counted in the official total of 40 contestants.
  5. Features only the vocals of the leaders of each competing group, however all contestants participated in the filming.
  6. Published as a compilation album of Daydream, Shiroyume, and Midori Sour's singles. They received these songs as a prize for placing in the top 3 in the Spring League.
