(지금 바로, 소녀시내! 아품을, 소녀시대! 영원히, 소녀시대! 안녕하세요, 소녀시대입니다!)

—Girls' Generation

Girls' Generation (Hangul: 소녀시대; Kanji: 少女時代) is an eight-member girl group under SM Entertainment. Originally as nine, they debuted on August 5, 2007 with their first single "Into the New World".

On September 30, 2014, the agency released a statement announcing Jessica's departure from the group due to scheduling conflicts.[1]

On October 10, 2017, SM Entertainment announced that members Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun decided not to renew their contracts with the company to focus on their acting or solo music careers, while the other five members renewed with the agency. With the change of music labels, the group was said to not be disbanded and future activities of the eight-member group remains to be discussed.[2]

They are currently on indefinite hiatus to focus on solo activities.[3][4]

On May 17, 2022, SM Entertainment announced that Girls' Generation would be making a comeback in August to celebrate their 15-year anniversary of debut. This will be their first comeback in five years since the release of their sixth full-length album, Holiday Night.[5]
