Get Up is the second EP by NewJeans. It was released on July 21, 2023 with "Super Shy", "ETA", and "Cool With You" serving as the album's triple title tracks.[1]
The pre-release single "Super Shy" was released on July 7, 2023.
The physical album comes in eleven versions: 6 "Bunny Beach Bag" versions (NEWJEANS, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Hyein, Haerin), 2 "The POWERPUFF GIRLS X NJ Box" (A & B) and 3 Weverse versions (A, B & C).
Background[]
On May 23, News1 reported that NewJeans will be releasing a pre-release single on July 7 and an album later that month.[2] Hours later, ADOR confirmed the reports.[3]
On June 18, the title of the pre-release singles and EP were revealed.[4][1]
NewJeans performed "ETA" for the first time before the release at NewJeans 1st Fan Meeting 'Bunnies Camp' on July 1.[5]
On July 17, ADOR revealed that the music video for "Cool With You" will be released on July 20 and that it will have two different versions.[6]
Composition[]
The first track "New Jeans" was described as an impressive song with a distinct and unique composition that alternates between UK Garage rhythms and Jersey Club rhythms, built upon its trendy and charismatic vocals. It stands out with its clever use of the team name, NewJeans, as both the song title and in the lyrics and melody, showcasing a distinctive charm.[7]
The second "Super Shy"" as an remarkable track that showcases innovative and experimental elements based on Jersey Club rhythms and Breakbeat. The vocals of NewJeans members effortlessly transition between authenticity and artistry, adding a trendy, fresh, and bouncy appeal to the song, making it one of the Triple Title tracks from this album.[7]
The third "ETA" as an song that combines Break Beat and a mellow sound in NewJeans' signature style, B more, infused with the liveliness of Favela Funk. The song is impressively marked by its unique opening lines that resonate with teenagers and its Melody Rap, which captures the feeling of chatting with a friend, showcasing NewJeans' distinct sensibility.[7]
The fourth "Cool With You" as an song that highlights NewJeans' distinctive and charming vocals, set against the backdrop of UK Garage rhythms. The refined vibe of Garage/House rhythms, reminiscent of the late 90s Pop Scene, blends flawlessly with the restrained vocal tones created by NewJeans' falsetto technique, leaving a strong impression.[7]
The fifth "Get Up" as an R&B track where NewJeans members' vocals and delicate expressions shine. Under a dreamy and chill mood, the all-member Harmony Choir adds an enchanting touch, and the impressive solo parts, each showcasing the members' individuality, make the song stand out.[7]
The sixth "ASAP" as an a catchy and lively song with a distinctive Euro Pop sound, characterized by cute and snappy opening lines. It serves as a track that leaves a lasting impression, evoking the album's final sentiments and anticipating the next encounter. The rhythmic Synth Sound and NewJeans members' vocals, akin to chatting with a friend, create a perfect harmony.[7]

Get Up was ranked #23 on Billboard's top 25 K-pop album of 2023.[8]
Commercial performance[]
On July 21, 2023, YG PLUS revealed that Get Up had surpassed 1.72 million stock pre-orders.[9]
Hanteo reported that in its first day of release, Get Up sold 1,194,623 copies which makes NewJeans the third girl group to sell 1 million copies in one day.[10] In one week the album sold 1,650,181 copies.[11] By the end of December 2023, it reached 2,028,991 copies sold, making NewJeans the fastest female K-pop artist to be double-million seller.[12]
As of July 22, Get Up has reached #1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in 17 different countries. The album also reached #1 on the Apple Music Top Albums chart.[13]
Get Up debuted at #15 on the United Kingdom Official Albums chart.[14]
Get Up debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. During the first week, it received 126,500 equivalent album units, 101,500 traditional album sales, 24,500 streaming equivalent album, 34.39 million on-demand audio streams, and 500 track equivalent album.[15] It spent two consecutive weeks in the top 10 on the chart,[16] seven consecutive weeks on the chart in the top 30, making NewJeans the first Korean female group to do so,[17] eight consecutive weeks in the top 40,[18] nine consecutive weeks in the top 50,[19] ten consecutive weeks in the top 60,[20] 12 consecutive weeks on the top 70,[21] and 14 consecutive weeks in the top 100, making Get Up the first album by a K-pop girl group to achieve the feat.[22] The album spent a total of 22 consecutive weeks on the chart.[23] Additionally, "Super Shy" debuted at #38 on the Billboard's Pop Airplay.[17]
"ETA" debuted at #81 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Cool With You" debuted at #93 on the same chart.[15]
On September 7, 2023, Circle Chart reported that Get Up received a million certification for surpassing one million copies sold. The weverse versions of the album received a platinum certification for surpassing 250,000 copies sold.[24]
On July 6, 2024, the Recording Industry Association of Japan awarded "ETA" a platinum certification.[25]
