GLAM (글램) was a four-member girl group created as a collaboration between Source Music and Big Hit Entertainment. Originally as five, they debuted on July 16, 2012 with the single "Party (XXO)". The group disbanded on January 15, 2015.[1]

Their name is an acronym for "GirLs be AMbitious".

History[]

Pre-debut[]

In October 2010, GLAM was featured on 2AM's song "Just Me" from the full-length album, Saint O'Clock. Glam's Jiyeon and was a featured artists on Lee Hyun's song "Bad Girl" from the album, You Are Best of My Life.[2] In October 2011, Glam's Dahee provided the vocals for the VOCALOID3 product SeeU.

2012: Debut with "Party (XXO)", departure of Trinity[]

On May 29, 2012 Miso was officially announced as the group's first member,[3] followed by Trinity on May 30,[4] Zinni on May 31,[5] and Dahee and Jiyeon on June 1.[6][7]

On July 16, 2012, they officially debuted with the release of their debut single, "Party (XXO)." The song peaked at number 66 on Gaon Digital Chart and sold over 50.000 copies.[8] In October 2012, they released the song, "The Person I Miss" for the soundtrack of the Korean drama, Five Fingers.

On December 24, 2012, Big Hit Entertainment released a public statement to fans, “Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, Trinity will no longer be a member of girl group GLAM. She currently holds no plans on pursuing a career in the entertainment world at the moment.”[9]

2013: First comeback "I Like That", "In Front of the Mirror"[]

On January 2, 2013, Glam released their second single album, "I Like That" which sampled the song "Why Do You" by Chuli and Miae.[10] The song peaked at number 57 on Gaon Digital Chart[11] and number 54 on Billboard K-Pop Hot 100 music chart.

On March 15, 2013, Glam made their second comeback with the digital single, "In Front of the Mirror" which peaked at number 37 on Gaon Digital Chart. The song sold over 85.000 copies.[12]

2014-2015: "Give It 2 U", blackmail scandal and groups disbandment[]

On February 4, 2014, Glam released their second digital single "Give It 2 U", which is a special gift for fans to celebrate Valentines Day.[13]

On September 2, 2014, the actor Lee Byung Hun accused two women of blackmailing him by using a compromising video as leverage. Dahee was identified as one of two women who were blackmailing Lee Byung Hun, alongside model Lee Ji Yeon.[14]

On January 15, 2015, Dahee was sentenced to a year in prison, while Ji Yeon was sentenced to a year and two months.[15] That same day, Big Hit Entertainment announced that GLAM decided to disband, and remarked, “The members will each walk their own paths.”[16]

On March 26, 2015, by the request of Lee Byung Hun, Dahee and Jiyeon were given two-year suspended sentence instead of 1-year prison sentence.[17]

  • In 2018, now using the name "Kim Si Won", Dahee began her career as a BJ on the video-streaming service Afreeca TV.[18]
  • Jiyeon is now a solo artist under the name "Haee". She made her solo debut on March 22, 2017 with the digital single "B-Day".
  • Zinni is pursuing a career in skateboarding, under the name "Jiny Kim".
  • Trinity is a freelance model under the name "Yoon Rong Rong".
  • The circumstances of Miso are unknown.
