Crush on Me! Hello, we are GIRL CRUSH!.
(Crush on Me! 안녕하세요, 걸크러쉬입니다!)

—GIRL CRUSH

GIRL CRUSH (걸크러쉬) is a four-member girl group under HW Entertainment. They began as a dance performance group before making their musical debut on April 8, 2019 with the digital single "Memories".

History[]

2019: Debut with "Memories"[]

On February 28, GIRL CRUSH officially opened a Makestar in order to gather funds for their debut. By the end of the project (on April 30), the group exceed their goal by 55%, gathering over $6,900 USD.[1][2]

The group made their official musical debut on April 8, with the digital single "Memories".

2020–2021: Line-up changes[]

On December 2, 2020, DAM Entertainment announced, through a post made made on the group's official Instagram account, that they are holding auditions. Around the same time, member Yo-na was removed from their profile's description.[3]

On February 1, 2021, it was announced that GIRL CRUSH's contracts with DAM Entertainment, had ended and all the members decided not to renew them. It was also confirmed that while Bomi, Zia and Taeri, had decided to stay in the group (still under the name GIRL CRUSH), Yo-na had decided to leave.[4]

On February 4, it was confirmed that the group is planning to introduce a new member soon.[5] Shortly after an Instagram account with the handle of @girlcrush_Yuka and no photos was created and subsequently followed by all of the three GIRL CRUSH members, by the end of February the page was also followed by the groups official SNS, confirming that the new member's stage name is Yuka.

2022: New agency, Yuka's departure, controversy[]

Sometime in early 2022, the group signed an exclusive contract with a new agency, HW Entertainment.[citation needed]

On May 18, 2022, it was announced that Yuka had left the group due to personal reasons.[6]

On May 29, 2022, HW Entertainment released a statement regarding new member Hayun after controversy arose due to the addition of an underaged minor to a group with a sexy concept, with some accusations describing the situation as exploitation of a minor. HW explained that Hayun is only a trainee and not an official member and that they will wait until she is of legal age before she joins the group. Shortly after posting the statement, the group's Instagram and Twitter were privated.[7]

In late June 2022, Hayun started actively performing in Girl Crush, thus contradicting HW statement of waiting for her to come of age.[8]

2023: "Oppa, Do you trust me?"[]

On January 4, the group announced their second digital single "Oppa, Do You Trust Me?", to be released on February 5.[9]

2024-present: Taeri's departure and Yuka's return, "Drive"[]

For unknown reasons, Taeri silently left the group between January and March 2024, being replaced by Yuka, who had left the group in 2022 and returned as a member of the group, taking the place left by Taeri and using a new stage name, Sena (세나).[10][11]

On July 6, they released their third digital single "Drive".
