Forestella (포레스텔라) is a four-member vocal group under Beat Interactive, formed through the music competition show Phantom Singer 2 and the winner of the show. They debuted on March 14, 2018 with their first album Evolution.[1][2]

Their name was created by combining "Forest", and "Stella" which means star in Latin/Italian.

History[]

Pre-debut: Phantom Singer 2[]

The four members met as contestants in the JTBC's singing competition Phantom Singer 2 of which goal was to find four finalists to form a crossover quartet. While doing the various duet, trio, and quartet stages in the show, members worked together in several stages. Cho and Ko performed and passed the duet stage together ("L'immensita") and later, Cho, Ko, and Bae performed and passed the trio stage ("Dell'Amore Non Si Sa") and the first quartet stage ("Radioactive") together. Kang was later grouped together with Cho in the random quartet stage, the first time he worked together with a future Forestella member. Forestella was officially formed prior to the final stage. The quartet performed four songs in the final stage and won the competition.[3]

2018: Evolution, "L'impossibile Vivere"[]

Forestella officially debuted and released their first album, Evolution, on March 14, 2018, with the title song "You Are My Star."

The single "L'impossibile Vivere" made in collaboration with Forte Di Quattro was released on May 11, 2018. They held a series of joint concerts together in Seoul and Busan.

2019: "Dear Moon", Mystique[]

On May 10, 2019, Forestella released their first digital single, "Dear Moon", as a pre-release for their upcoming second album, Mystique, which was released on May 22, 2019.

They renewed their group contract as they wanted to continue as a quartet, although Bae and Cho joined different agencies for their solo activities.

2020: "Nella Fantasia", "Together", "Words from the Wind", "Ties"[]

Their second digital single, "Nella Fantasia", was released on April 9, 2020.

On June 30, 2021, Forestella's contract with Art & Artists expired and the group decided not to renew.[4]

On August 2, Beat Interactive announced they had signed an exclusive contract with the group and would from here on out take care of the group's promotions.[5]

During their YouTube live stream on September 7, 2021, Forestella announced that their fandom name was "SoopByeol" (숲별). It is actually a transliteration of their name in Korean: 숲 means "forest" and 별 means "star".[6]
