O-24 (오투포) was a three-member girl group under Eunsung Entertainment and Yedang Entertainment Company. They made their debut on November 30, 1998 with the studio album Live In Hip Hop.

Their group name have two meanings: 'to think of hip hop from 0 o'clock to 24 o'clock', and all four (4) members are like oxygen (O2)

History[]

1998–2002: Debut and disbandment[]

O-24 made their debut as a four-member girl group with their studio debut album Live In Hip Hop. The four members were: Mijung, Kahye, Yeonjung, Minzee. O-24 were the first girl group to introduce the hip-hop genre to Korea, however at the time , their rival groups were far more famous such as S.E.S. and DIVA and hence O-24 was overshadowed from debut. Before debut, they were introduced as 'Tornado Girls', however they quickly changed their name back to 'O-24'. Within a few months, member Yeonjung left the group due to a leg injury.[1] Following Yeonjung's departure, O-24 went inactive for a week and returning to promotions as a three-member girl group.

On April, 1999, the follow-up song 'First Love' was reorganized and re-recording as a three-member girl group, with a fresh melody and complicated dance moves. It was also appears in the Orion's 'Wow' bubblegum commercial. Thanks to the commercial, O-24 achieved very good results and rising the group's popularity.

Shortly after the promotion of 'First Love'. On June 1999, another follow-up song 'Molla Molla' ('I Don't know') was also reorganized to a trance-mix, 'Molla Molla' is their highest rank song, peaked at #9 on 'SBS Inkigayo'.

On August 30, 2000, O-24 made their first comeback with the studio album, Growing Up. Their title song "Blind Faith" was met with criticism and was accused of plagiarism due to its similarities to Britney Spears's "Oops!... I Did It Again".[2] O-24 went inactive following the scandal. They finally disbanded sometime in 2002.

Aftermath[]

Yeonjung went on to debut the girl group PAPAYA on August 16, 2000 while Mijung went onto become a TOEIC instructor and was a news reporter for a short time.[3] Minzee reportedly return to become an owner of a bike mechanic store following her marriage.[citation needed]. Kahye is currently lives in Solomon Islands.
