KENTA・SANGGYUN, formerly known as JBJ95, is a male duo formed by Star Road Entertainment and Hunus Entertainment. They debuted on October 30, 2018 with the mini album Home.

Their name is a combination of JBJ (to commemorate their roots in the group) and 95, as they were both born in 1995. Unlike JBJ, which was a temporary group, JBJ95 is a permanent duo.

The duo was formed through an agreement between Star Road Entertainment and Hunus Entertainment before Star Road took over all management in March 2019 following Sanggyun's transfer to the agency.[3]

History[]

2018: Debut with Home[]

Following the conclusion of JBJ activities in April 2018, in a joint fanmeeting on July 7, Kenta and Sanggyun shared news that they would be officially be promoting as duo. Their final name would be decided by ideas submitted by fans through a fan vote.[4]

During a August 7 V Live, Kenta and Sanggyun announced that the duo would be called "JBJ95" It refers to the project group "JBJ" in which they were members of, and "95" because they were both born in 1995.[5] On October 4, Star Road confirmed that the duo would make their debut in the last week of October.[6]

On the midnight of October 15, a timetable was released for their debut mini album, Home, which was released on October 30.[7] On October 24, the duo revealed their official logo and colors: Blue Moon and Golden Treasure.[2]

2019: Fan club name, Awake, Spark, "Only One"[]

On February 1, the duo announced that their fan club would be called "Jjakkung", which means "partner" or "mate."[1]

On March 10, 2019, it was announced that Sanggyun had officially departed from Hunus to join Kenta's agency, leaving JBJ95 to be fully managed by Star Road.[3] The duo made their first comeback on March 26 with their second mini album Awake.

On August 9, JBJ95 released their third mini album Spark.

On November 18, Star Road confirmed that the duo was working on a digital single album with a goal to release it in December. The single, "Only One", was released on December 6.[8]

2020–2022: Jasmin, lawsuit, Japan activities[]

On October 28, 2020, JBJ95 made a comeback with their fourth mini album Jasmin.

On April 14, 2021, it was reported that the duo had filed a lawsuit against Star Road to terminate their contracts in September 2020, stating that the agency had not provided them with a manager and also having to manage their schedules by themselves. The duo also stated that Star Road is facing numerous lawsuits of unpaid employee wages, unpaid fees to concert organizers, and not being transparent on their financial statements.[9]

In August 2022, the duo began promoting in Japan under the name KENTA・SANGGYUN after opening a new Twitter account to announce their upcoming Japan mini concert, KENTA・SANGGYUN Mini Concert in Japan 「Dear My Friend -夕暮れの交差点で君と会う-」, to be held November 2022.[10]

On October 24, 2022, it was confirmed that the duo had won their lawsuit to terminate their exclusive contracts with Star Road Entertainment.[11]

On October 28, 2022, they released the lyric video for the song "Dreams".[12]
