Kanni (카니), formerly known as Xeheun[1], is a South Korean singer under Space Sound. She is a former member of the girl group GIRLKIND and its subunit GIRLKIND XJR.
She made her solo debut on October 19, 2018 with the digital single "Vibe On".
Career[]
2016: Produce 101[]
In January 2016, Xeheun became a contestant on the survival show Produce 101 where she represented Nextlevel Entertainment. She was eliminated in episode 5 after ranking 93rd place.[2]
2018–2022: Debut with GIRLKIND, solo debut, GIRLKIND XJR[]
She debuted as a member of GIRLKIND on January 17, 2018 with the group's first digital single "Fanci".
On October 19, 2018, she debuted as a solo artist with her first digital single "Vibe On".
Xeheun debuted as a member of the group's first sub unit GIRLKIND XJR on August 28, 2019 with the mini album Life is Diamond.
On August 13, 2022, Nextlevel Entertainment announced that the group has disbanded after a long period of discussion, because of internal issues.[3]
2023: Solo activities[]
On April 2, 2023, GIRLKIND's Instagram account began to post cryptic teasers and changed its name to Kanni.[4] It was later revealed that Kanni is Xeheun's new stage name and that she had signed with Space Sound.[5]
Kanni released her second digital single "Aprillia" on April 16.[6] This marked her first release following the disbandment of GIRLKIND and her first solo comeback after five years.
