Bian (비안, formerly known as Jiwon) is a South Korean singer, dancer, model and BJ. She is a former member of the girl groups MAJORS, ANS and the pre-debut group MIDNIGHT.
Career[]
2019: MIDNIGHT[]
In February, H&I Entertainment introduced her, under the name Jiwon, as a member of their upcoming girl group, MIDNIGHT, through a "2018 BEST Solo Singer Medley" dance cover posted on their Youtube channel.[1] On April 8 & 9, H&I introduced two new trainees who would be replacing three members who had departed from the line-up, one of whom was Jiwon.[2]
2019–2020: ANS[]
Four months later, on August 12, she was revealed as a member of the girl group ANS, under the stage name Bian, which was managed by ANS Entertainment.[3] The group debuted on September 16, 2019 with the digital single album, "Boom Boom".
On October 6, 2019, ANS Entertainment released a ballad duet, "Lean On Me", featuring Bian and Royeon.
On August 20, 2020, she was among the members who announced that they had terminated their contracts with their agency, and the disbandment of ANS back in August 11.[4]
2021–2023: MAJORS[]
On March 9, 2021, Bian re-debuted in ANS Entertainment's new girl group MAJORS. The lineup for this group saw completely new members who were not with Bian in ANS, which led to confusion among fans since Bian had previously announced her departure from the agency the foregoing year. Jeon Eunbi, the only member of ANS who was said to have remained under ANS Entertainment was not a part of MAJORS.[5]
It was assumed that Bian has left the group, as on May 8, 2022, her mother posted to Instagram, saying "You can say 'goodbye' to Bian~~ Bian is a memory now… It's Jiwon from now on, not Bian."[6] However, on May 25, ANS Entertainment released a statement clarifying that Bian has not officially left MAJORS yet. In the same statement, they also clarified that Vita has also not left MAJORS.[7]
On August 24, 2022, it was rumored that Bian signed an exclusive contract with Chinese company Haiwen and planned to be active on Douyin and becoming a brand model, in addition, they stated that she was no longer member of MAJORS.[8] However, ANS Entertainment stated that Bian was still part of MAJORS and their company.[9]
Bian resumed group activities starting on September 23, 2022.[10] MAJORS presumably disbanded in May 2023.
