FANTASY BOYS (판타지보이즈) is an 11-member multinational boy group under PocketDol Studio and M25. Formed through the MBC reality survival show Fantasy Boys and originally as 12, they made their debut on September 21, 2023 with the mini album New Tomorrow.
History[]
Pre-debut: Fantasy Boys[]
On June 8, 2022, production company Phunky Studio officially announced that the idol audition show Fantasy Boys would be returning with a male version early next year. "PD [producing director] Han Dong Chul has begun preparing to produce a male version for Season 2," stated the agency. "It is currently scheduled to air in February or March of next year. Just like Season 1, it will be an audition for the birth of a talented K-pop group."[2] On August 23, MBC confirmed the show will be airing in early 2023.[3] On November 14, the began filming it's first episode.[4]
Fantasy Boys premiered on March 30, 2023,[5] while the live finale was broadcasted on June 8, with the boys who ranked in the top twelve to debut in the show's product group FANTASY BOYS. During the finale, twelve different contestants were revealed to make their debut; Yu Jun Won ranked first overall, Kim Gyu Rae ranked second, Hong Sung Min ranked third, Oh Hyeon Tae ranked fourth, Lee Han Bin ranked fifth, Ling Qi ranked sixth, Kang Min Seo ranked seventh, Hikari ranked eighth, K-Soul ranked ninth, Kim Woo Seok in tenth, Hikaru ranked eleventh, and finally, Kaedan ranked twelfth.[6] SNS accounts were opened later that day.[7]
On August 14, it was announced that the group would be debuting in September.[8]
On August 23, PocketDol Studio announced that FANTASY BOYS will debut as an 11-member ensemble without Yu Jun Won, due to his unauthorized departure from the group following disagreements about his contract between his parents and the agency.[9]
2023: Debut with New Tomorrow, K-Soul's hiatus, Potential[]
On August 24, 2023, PocketDol Studio announced that FANTASY BOYS will be debuting on September 21.[10]
On August 28, it was announced that FANTASY BOYS will be debuting with their first mini album, New Tomorrow, on September 21.[11]
On October 1, a statement was released announcing that member K-Soul would be temporarily halting all scheduled activities and returning to China due to the worsening of his father and maternal grandmother's health.[12]
On October 21, PocketDol Studio announced that FANTASY BOYS would be making a comeback in late November, followed by a Japanese concert in December.[13] On October 30, PocketDol Studio announced that the group will be returning on November 24.[14] The title of their second mini album, Potential was later confirmed.
2024: Make Sunshine, Japanese debut with Make A Fantasy, Project 7, Starlight Boys[]
On April 10, it was announced that FANTASY BOYS will be making their Japanese debut on June 19 with the mini album Make A Fantasy.[15]
On April 15, a coming soon poster was unveiled for the group's third mini album, Make Sunshine, set to be released on May 2.[16]
