f(x) (에프엑스) was a four-member girl group under SM Entertainment. They officially debuted on September 5, 2009 on MBC's Music Core by performing their first single "La Cha Ta", which was released on the 1st.[1]

The group received the title of "Asian Pop Dance Group" by their label and are touted as a multinational group since f(x) consists of members from China, United States and South Korea.

History

2009-2019: Debut to disbandment

The group largely went inactive since 2016 with no news of new releases.

Following the group's 10 year anniversary, on September 1, Amber announced via her social media accounts that she had not renewed her contract with SM Entertainment.[2] On September 5, SM Entertainment shared that both Luna and Victoria have chosen not to renew their contracts with SM,[3] while member Krystal still has time remaining before her contract expires.[4]
