f(x) (에프엑스) was a five-member girl group under SM Entertainment. They officially debuted on September 5, 2009 with the digital single "La Cha Ta". The group has presumably disbanded following the departures of three members in 2019.[1][2][3]
The group received the title of "Asian Pop Dance Group" by their label and are touted as a multinational group since f(x) consists of members from China, United States and South Korea.
History
2016–2019: Inactivity and departures from SM
The group largely went inactive since 2016 with no news of new releases as the members pursued individual activities.
The group (without Victoria) performed together for the first time in three years at the SMTOWN Live 2019 In Tokyo concert in August 2019.[4]
On September 1, 2019, Amber announced via her social media accounts that she had not renewed her contract with SM Entertainment.[1]
On the day of the group's 10 year anniversary, September 5th, SM Entertainment shared that both Luna and Victoria have chosen not to renew their contracts with SM,[2] while Krystal still has time remaining before her contract expires.[3]
