Hani and Jeonghwa left Banana Culture in 2019, followed by Hyelin, Solji and LE in 2020. In an April 2020 interview, LE stated that despite the members being under different agencies, they still desire to promote and release albums together.[1]

EXID made their debut as a six-member group with the release of their first digital single, "Holla" on February 16, 2012.
Two months after the group's debut, on April 30, it was announced that Yuzi, Dami and Haeryeong had left the group due to personal reasons. Yuzi and Dami left the group to pursue their academic schedules while Haeryeong left the group to pursue her acting career. The three members were then replaced by two new members: former vocal trainer Solji, who was originally a member of the duo 2NB as well as a solo artist, and fellow AB Entertainment trainee Hyelin, who was intended to debut with the other six members before she was cut from the lineup.[2] The former members of the group would eventually re-debut in 2014 as BESTie with Dahye being a fourth member.
