EPEX (Korean: 이펙스; Japanese: イーペックス; short for Eight Apex) is an eight-member boy group under C9 Entertainment. They debuted on June 8, 2021 with their first EP Bipolar Pt.1 : Prelude of Anxiety.

Their name is a combination of the words "eight" (8) and "apex" (peak). The meaning behind their name stands for "The gathering of eight youths reaches eight different zeniths", referencing the group's 8 members.[2]

History[]

Pre-debut[]

On March 1, 2021, C9 Entertainment opened several SNS accounts, stating that they would become the artist accounts for the new idol group once they made their debut.[3][4]

From March 2 to March 9, the members were revealed via the group's social medias, starting with Keum, followed by Baek Seung, A-Min, Mu, Yewang, Jeff, Wish and Ayden respectively.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

On April 1, the group's official name was announced to be EPEX, which stands for "Eight Apex".[2]

2021: Bipolar Pt.1 : Prelude of Anxiety and Bipolar Pt.2 : Prelude of Love[]

On May 7, 2021, a teaser titled "Prelude of Anxiety" was released on the group's SNS accounts. Their debut EP, Bipolar Pt.1 : Prelude of Anxiety, was released on June 8.[13]

On July 28, coinciding EPEX's 50th day of debut, it was revealed through a special Naver V Live broadcast that their fandom name would now be known as ZENTIH. According to member Ayden, ZENITH means the apex that the eight members will reach together, hence their group name's meaning.[1]

On September 25, a teaser titled "Prelude of Love" was released on the group's SNS accounts. Their second EP, Bipolar Pt.2 : Prelude of Love, was released on October 26.[14]

2022: Prelude of Anxiety Chapter 1. '21st Century Boys, Prelude of Love Chapter 1. 'Puppy Love[]

On March 15, 2022, a teaser titled "21st Century Boys" was released on the group's SNS accounts. Their third EP, Prelude of Anxiety Chapter 1. '21st Century Boys', was released on April 11.[15]

On September 26, a teaser for their fourth EP, Prelude of Love Chapter 1. 'Puppy Love', was released on the group's SNS accounts. It was released on October 26.[16] Ahead of their comeback, the group unveiled their official light stick design.[17]

2023: Prelude of Love Chapter 2. 'Growing Pains', Prelude of Anxiety Chapter 2. 'Can We Surrender?[]

On March 27, 2023, a teaser was released for their fifth EP, Prelude of Love Chapter 2. 'Growing Pains', set to release on April 26.[18]

On August 28, a teaser was unveiled for their sixth EP, Prelude of Anxiety Chapter 2. 'Can We Surrender?', set to be released on October 4.[19]

2024: "Graduation Day", Youth Chapter 1 : Youth Days, "My Girl", Youth Chapter 2 : Youth Deficiency[]

On January 26, 2024, a teaser was unveiled for the digital single "Graduation Day", to be released on February 5, serving as a pre-release for their upcoming full-length album.[20] Youth Chapter 1 : Youth Days was announced on March 15.[21] The release date was later revealed to be April 9.[22]

On October 1, 2024, EPEX announced they will be pre-releasing "My Girl" on October 14, ahead of their second full-length album.[23] Youth Chapter 2 : Youth Deficiency will be released on November 5.[24]
