DAWN (던; formerly known as E'Dawn) is a South Korean rapper-songwriter and producer under At Area. He is a former member of the boy group PENTAGON and the co-ed group Triple H.

He made his solo debut on November 5, 2019 with the digital single "Money".

Career[]

2016–2018: PENTAGON and Triple H[]

He debuted as a member of PENTAGON on October 10, 2016 with their self-titled debut mini album. He later debuted as a member of Triple H on May 1, 2017 with the mini album 199X.

On November 14, 2018, his exclusive contract with Cube was terminated and it was announced that he would be leaving PENTAGON.[2]

2019: New agency, new stage name and solo debut[]

On January 27,2019, he and his partner, HyunA, signed with PSY's new agency, P NATION.[3]

On October 18, PSY posted a photo of the couple on his Instagram account, saying that the singles of both were finished and since this day, Hyojong's name started being mentioned as DAWN.[4] On October 28, three teaser photos of "Money", his solo debut single, were released.[5]

2022: Departure from P NATION[]

On August 29, 2022, P NATION announced that both he and HyunA would be leaving the agency after deciding not to renew their contracts.[6]

2023: New agency, "Dear My Light", Narcissus[]

On January 30, 2023, DAWN signed with GroovyRoom's agency, At Area.[7]

On April 7, DAWN shared a teaser for his third digital single "Dear My Light", which was released on April 13.[8]

On September 4, DAWN announced his first EP, Narcissus, which was released on September 15.[9]

Personal life[]

Relationship[]

DAWN revealed he has been dating HyunA since May 2016.[10] On February 3, 2022, they revealed that they have been engaged.[11]

On November 30, 2022, DAWN and HyunA announced that they have broken up.[12]

Military service[]

On October 12, 2023, DAWN announced that he enlisted quietly in the military as public service worker.[13]
