On May 8, 2024, SM Entertainment announced that NCT WISH will be releasing a single in the third quarter of the year.[1] On August 27, it was reported that the group will pre-release a song in early September before coming back with an album later in the month. SM Entertainment later confirmed that NCT WISH is currently preparing for a comeback aiming for September.[2] On September 2, NCT WISH announced that they will be pre-releasing "Dunk Shot" on September 9.[3]
