Dark Blood (stylized in all-caps) is the fourth mini album by ENHYPEN. It was released on May 22, 2023 with "Bite Me" serving as the album's title track. "Sacrifice (Eat Me Up)" was also promoted on music shows.
The physical album comes in eleven versions: Full, Half, New, seven individual Engene versions, and Weverse Albums.
Background[]
On November 10, 2022, during the 2022 HYBE Briefing With the Community, CEO Park Ji Won announced that ENHYPEN will be releasing a new album after the end of their world tour.[1] On April 12, 2023, it was reported that ENHYPEN will be coming back in May and are currently preparing for their new album.[2] Belift Lab confirmed the news on April 14.[3] On April 24, shared a logo motion trailer for their fourth mini album Dark Blood, set to be released on May 22.[4]
Commercial performance[]
As of May 23, Dark Blood had reached #1 in 30 different countries on the iTunes Albums Top chart.[5]
Hanteo reported that Dark Blood sold 1,108,337 copies on its first day of release,[5] and 1,322,516 copies in its first week, breaking their previous record.[6]
Dark Blood debuted at #1 on the Oricon's daily album chart, selling 148,728 copies on the first day of its release in Japan.[7]
On June 8, in the monthly update for May, Circle Chart reported that Dark Blood reached 1,554,830 copies sold. It debuted at #2 on the monthly chart.[8]
On June 9, the Recording Industry Association of Japan reported that Dark Blood received a gold certification for reaching 100,000 units shipped.[9]
On June 11, Billboard announced that Dark Blood debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart which makes it ENHYPEN's first album to debut/enter the top 5.[10] It spent eight consecutive weeks on the chart, which makes it the group's first album to do so,[11] and ten weeks on the chart in total.[12]
On July 6, 2023, Circle Chart reported that Dark Blood received a million certification for surpassing 1 million copies sold.[13]
